Job Summary
Plans, organizes, controls, and supervises the operations of the pharmacy in accordance with all hospital policies, standards of practice of the profession, and state and federal laws and rules pertinent to the practice and the distribution of drugs.
Responsibilities
Responsible for pharmacy dispensing process including, but not limited to procurement, compounding, and shipping. Dispense medications with appropriate labeling. Compounds sterile products when requested. Manages day-to-day operations and activities of the pharmacy. Use appropriate resources to provide drug information to physicians and other health care providers associated with the institution. Provide any clinical services as identified by the department. Supervise pharmacists and pharmacy technicians. Responsible for performance planning and review of pharmacists and pharmacy technicians. Keep abreast of literature and current developments in the pharmacy profession. Responsible for maintaining the pharmacy's compliance with USP 797 regulations and other applicable methodologies and quality assurance standards for the production of sterile products. Participates on and leads appropriate teams and committees as requested. Adheres to the duties and responsibilities of the Pharmacist-in-Charge set forth by the WV Board of Pharmacy Rules regarding licensure and practice. Accountable for the financial performance of the department. Responsible for hiring, termination, and disciplinary actions of pharmacy personnel. Oversees pharmacist and pharmacy technician students on rotations at the pharmacy.

Specifically the employee must be able to demonstrate competency in: 1) ability to obtain and interpret information in terms of patient needs; 2) knowledge of growth and development; and 3) understanding of the range of treatment needed by the patients. Competency Statement Must demonstrate competency through an initial orientation and ongoing competency validation to independently perform tasks and additional duties as specified in the job description and the unit/department specific competency checklist. Perform related duties as assigned.
Education
Bachelor's Degree (Required) Experience: 1 Year Related Field experience
Doctorate Degree (Required) Experience: 1 Year Related Field experience
