Job Summary:
Provides insurance verification support for a multi-surgeon office, for all locations, to ensure timely and accurate benefits are presented to patients at their appointments. This position interacts, telephonically, with insurance companies, patients, patients’ families and referring offices regarding patient, benefit, related issues and serves as a resource in a team environment. The Insurance Verification Specialist must maintain excellent relations with insurance companies, interpret operating policies and exercise independent judgment in relation to insurance policy information.
Essential Job Functions/Duties:
· Utilizes appropriate telephonic etiquette when speaking to patients, referrals and insurance companies
· Utilizes appropriate email etiquette, both, internally and externally
· Enters patient insurance demographics into practice software and corrects inaccurate information, as needed
· Ensures all veriforms are completed three days prior to a patient’s scheduled appointment by utilizing: office software, telephonic communication and/or, approved, online portals
· Escalates appropriate scenarios to the verification supervisor or the billing director, when required
· Communicate situations projected to result in a significant non-covered balance to the verification supervisor or the billing director
· Maintains full compliance with HIPAA and OSHA guidelines
· Has a full understanding and knowledge of multiple insurance agencies and the benefits provided
· Monitors the Installation Verification inbox and returns standard request emails within 1 hour
· Monitors the Installation Verification inbox and returns urgent request emails within 20 minutes
· Adheres to all current and new procedures and policies
· Maintain, management determined, accuracy rating during account audits
· Helps to ensure the cleanliness of the Contact Center
· All other duties as assigned by management
Required Qualifications:
· High School diploma or graduation equivalency degree (GED) and a certificate
· Excellent communication skills in person, writing and via telephonic conversation
· Must understand the key components of appropriate patient oriented customer service
· Quick to take on new information
· Self starter who requires minimal supervision
· Ability to utilize office software
· Microsoft skills to include: Excel, Word, Outlook and PowerPoint
Working Conditions
Ability to work in an office setting with several staff members in close proximity—often with heavy background noise.'
