Performs technical and administrative support work processing, issuing, and completing County permits, contractor licenses including taxi driver and car permits, fortune teller permits, code compliance complaints and/or inspection requests.
- Accepts applications for permits, contractor licenses, or inspection requests; verifies for accuracy, completeness, and compliance; and enters data into computerized system.
- Answers telephone calls for all of Community Development and responds to customer inquiries.
- Determines and calculates appropriate fees: and prepares application package for issuance.
- Issues permits/contractor licenses collects associated fees using computerized receipting system; and accurately disburses appropriate paperwork.
- Receives and responds to routine code enforcement and licensing complaints.
- Disseminates permit/license/inspection/code compliance information and appropriate forms to customers.
- Schedules inspections and dispatches information to inspectors in the field.
- Corresponds with customers concerning status of applications, cases or inspections and methods for meeting deadlines.
- Processes on-line permits, renewals, permit extensions and expired permits: and enters data into department computer systems.
- Provides administrative support services such as routine correspondence, maintaining files, new documentation and purging out-of-date information.
- Provide exceptional customer assistance, problem-solving, and/or complaint resolution by all forms of communication.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Two (2) years of experience in customer service or public contact work.
- Or an equivalent combination of relevant training, education and experience.

- Knowledge of departmental policies, plans, and procedures.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and other job-related computer programs and software applications.
- Knowledge of modern office practices, procedures, and equipment.
- Knowledge of state regulations; technical code; County ordinances, policies, and procedures; and zoning and land development regulations as they relate to permits, licenses, and inspections, and the enforcement of such.
- Knowledge of modern governmental office practices, procedures, equipment, and standard clerical/administrative support techniques.

WORK ENVIRONMENTWork is primarily performed indoors but is exposed to temperamental changes (e.g., warehouses, covered loading docks, garages, etc.) or irate customers, extreme noise, odors, heights and/or dust.
