What are the responsibilities and job description for the 23-24 Dean of Curriculum position at Charter Schools USA at Innovation LLC?

JOB PURPOSE

  • Contributes to curriculum development, data analysis, instructional planning, coaching and training for instructional staff members
  • Develops and implements instructional plans within the CSUSA framework to best fit school needs
  • Promotes the implementation of CSUSA's Education Model to ensure personalized learning for all students
  • Collaborates with various stakeholders to promote the school's mission/vision
  • Provides instructional coaching for instructional staff
  • Conducts observations and delivers feedback to instructional staff throughout the year to build capacity of those team members
  • Provides instructional support to students and teachers as necessary
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Professional Development
    • Topic specific in-service training as needed within deadlines
    • Coaching and mentoring instructional staff
    • Modeling lessons and instructional planning
    • Collaborates well in a supportive environment that foster relationships with leadership teams, colleagues, and other stakeholders
  • Curriculum and Instruction
    • Research and development of curriculum resources and trainings
    • Has a comprehensive knowledge of the state standards, instructional best practices, courses offered within the state, and all state assessments
    • Researches and identifies appropriate instructional resources, based on data, through the budget  priorities process
  • Data Analysis
    • State assessment understanding; including purpose, calculation of scores, disaggregation and aggregation of data, instructional preparation, etc.
    • CSUSA assessment understanding; including purpose, scores and reports, disaggregation and aggregation of data, informed instructional decision making, etc.
    • Provides training on appropriate student/teacher/grade-level data analysis and how to drive instructional plans
    • Actively participates in the strategic planning process to support the school with developing academic plans

  8. Ability to organize and manage multiple priorities/projects while maintaining flexibility. Must be detail oriented in multiple facets and drive projects to completion with follow through.
  9. Computer proficient in O365 and MS Office, other technology devices, instructional software, and knowledge of successful implementation of each.
  10. Delivers dynamic presentations that engage audience and participants.
  11. Ability to consistently be at work, adding value, arriving and departing on time, to deliver clear instructions, respond to upper management direction and solicit feedback to improve performance.
  12. Ability to work with large amounts of data, to interpret data, to detect errors and prepare reports. Thinks creatively for how to best implement instructional plans.
  13. Strong customer service and orientation.
  14. Establishes excellent interpersonal skills between all constituents: being courteous, professional, and helpful; demonstrates high level of interpersonal skills to handle sensitive and confidential situations.
  15. Broad conceptual perspective and forward-thinking on educational issues and their long-term impact on the school and the company.
 
JOB REQUIREMENTS
  • Master's degree in Educational Leadership or Curriculum & Instruction preferred, or equivalent combination of training and experience.
  • 2-5 years related experience and/or training; Commitment to company mission, vision, and values.
  • MAC proficient: Microsoft Office (O365, Sharepoint, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.), other relevant platforms/software programs, educational technology, and mobile communication device.
  • Such alternatives to the above requirements as the School Principal may find appropriate and acceptable.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
 
While performing the responsibilities of this position, the work environment characteristics listed below are representative of the environment the employee will encounter:
  • Usual school working conditions
  • One school location
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
  • No physical exertion required.
  • Possibility for minimal travel.
  • Light work: Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force as frequently as needed to move objects.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT
Salary and benefits shall be paid consistent with CSUSA salary and benefit policy. Length of the work year and hours of employment shall be those established by Charter Schools USA.
 
FLSA OVERTIME CATEGORY
Job is exempt from the overtime provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act.
 
EVALUATION
Performance will be evaluated in accordance with Charter Schools USA's policy.

The Charter Schools USA Human Resources Department retains the sole right and discretion to make changes to this job description. Any employee making changes unauthorized by Human Resources Department will be subject to disciplinary action up to and including termination.
