JOB PURPOSE
Accounting Intern reports to the Accounting Manager and assists various levels of accountants with multiple duties regarding accounting functions of Charter Schools USA within established deadlines. The Accounting Intern learns through professional practice how to provide a wide variety of customer services for school locations.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Assist in the preparation of monthly and quarterly financial statements for multiple entities, which includes the following:
- Perform bank reconciliations
- Prepare and post required journal entries
- Review & reconcile all balance sheet accounts
- Prepare summary of significant events and budget variances
- Prepare supporting documentation for financial statements including balance sheet schedules and other reconciliations
- Work closely with independent and internal auditors during annual financial statement audit with preparing schedules and invoices, providing explanations of supporting materials and procedures, and preparing any other necessary data.
- Assist in the posting of accounts to the General Ledger for:
- Accounts Receivable
- Cash Receipts
- Accounts Payable
- Cash Disbursements
- Payroll
- Maintain records of all financial documents with appropriate supporting material, update records as necessary.
- Communicate with co-workers, management, clients, schools, and others in a courteous and professional manner.
- Conform with and abide by all regulations, policies, work procedures, and instructions.
- Provide support such as schedules, data, information, etc. for the annual budget process.

JOB REQUIREMENTS
- Actively enrolled in bachelor's or master's degree program in accounting or another related field.
- Seeking professional experience in budgeting or accounting or any equivalent combination of education, experience, and training that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
WORK ENVIRONMENT

PHYSICAL DEMANDS
- No physical exertion required.
- Travel within or outside of state.
- Light work: Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force as frequently as needed to move objects.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT
Salary and benefits shall be paid consistent with CSUSA salary and benefit policy. Length of the work year and hours of employment shall be those established by Charter Schools USA.

FLSA OVERTIME CATEGORY
Job is exempt from the overtime provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act.
