Chartwell Law has an opening for an experienced Associate for our General Liability practice group located in our Tallahassee, Florida office. Candidates should have demonstrated experience in relevant practice field. Experience in insurance defense and general liability and construction defect, a plus. Successful applicants will have exceptional writing, research, and litigation skills. They are proactive and highly driven individuals.
Primary duties include:
- File review and legal analysis of claims and causes of action
- Perform extensive legal research and drafting of substantial briefs, memos, pleadings and appellate briefs
- Regularly represent clients in court, at arbitrations and in depositions
- Draft and respond to discovery
- Retention of and collaboration with expert witnesses
- Trial preparation and trial attendance
- Some travel may be required.
Requirements
- 2-5 years’ experience in liability, experience in 1st and 3rd party work or other areas a plus.
- J.D degree from an ABA-approved law school.
- Admitted to practice in the State of Florida required, other states are a plus.
- Superior analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Solid research abilities and written and oral communication skills.
- Strong work ethic, ability to self-manage and work in a team environment.
- Must respond promptly to e-mail and phone inquiries .
- Excellent client skills and telephone manner.
