INTERNAL POSTING ONLY - Only current Chatham County employees may apply for Internal Postings. Under the direction of the Chief Appraiser or designee,
Manages, oversees, trains, and evaluates assigned administrative and support staff.
Directs and reviews the daily operations of the Commercial/Personal Property division for the Chatham County Board of Assessors, including administrative support, human resources management, quality control, and active participation in the work product of the division.
Plans and oversees processes and procedures, including but not limited to, the transfer and assessment of property, the processing of return of values, appeals, mailing address changes, situs changes, homestead exemption applications and/or the mapping of parcels.
Manages, oversees, and reviews the entry of data in department databases and department file systems.
Performs directly related work as required under the provisions of O.C.G.A. Title 48 Chapter 5, Department of Revenue Substantive Rules and Regulations, the Appraisal Procedures Manual, Chatham County Employee Handbook, and Chatham County Board of Assessors Policy Statements.
Assists in the preparation of appeal cases and testifies in Superior Court as needed.
Maintains strong and active participation and relationships with supervisors and subordinates and works well with the public.
Utilizes CAMA (Computer Assisted Mass Appraisal) software and other systems applicable to the area of assignment.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Bachelor’s Degree in Real Estate, Finance, Accounting, GIS, or closely related field, and
Five (5) years of progressively responsible experience in property assessment (Residential, Commercial/Industrial, Personal Property, and/or Support Services) or closely related field, including one (1) year of work experience as a supervisor; or
Any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
Special Requirements:
Successful completion of the qualifications of the Appraiser IV exam or the ability to successfully complete the qualifications of the Appraiser IV exam within a specified time frame.
Proof of successful completion of the qualifications required.
Must possess a valid driver’s license.
Geographic Information Systems Professional (GISP) certification preferred.
Special Note: Upon voluntary termination of less than 12 months of service, employee must reimburse the Board of Assessors for training and testing expenses. Candidate will be subject to a 12 month probationary period.
