What are the responsibilities and job description for the Active Living Instructor for Aging Services -TEMPORARY position at Chatham, County of (NC)?
Provides instruction for various exercise classes, educational programs, and/or art classes which will play a vital role in helping older adults to maintain their independence, improve their health, and engage in activities providing socialization and entertainment. This is a temporary position and will report to the Center Manager.
Positions available in Pittsboro and Siler City.
Tai Chi Instructor, Art Teachers/Instructors, and Yoga Instructors highly desired.
This work requires the frequent exertion of up to 10 pounds of force and occasional exertion of up to 25 pounds of force; work regularly requires sitting, speaking, hearing, using hands to finger, handling, feeling, reaching with hand and arms and repetitive motions, frequently requires walking, standing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, pushing, pulling and lifting; work has standard vision requirements; work requires vocal communication to express or exchange ideas by means of spoken word; work requires hearing to perceive information at normal spoken levels; work requires preparing and analyzing written or computer data, using measuring devices, operating motor vehicles or equipment and observing general surroundings and activities; work occasionally requires exposure to outdoor weather conditions; work is generally in a moderately quiet location (e.g. business office).

- Teaches various classes and/or evidence-based programs within the Center such as exercise, art/crafts, or educational programs;
- May be asked to assist with setting up for classes as needed which may include gathering needed exercise equipment and/or class supplies;
- Other duties as assigned.
- Knowledge of aging process, needs and problems of older adults and various methods and techniques to assist them;
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills for diverse audiences and educational levels;
- Ability to work with a diverse group of individuals and provide equitable treatment to all.

Special Requirements
- Evidence-Based Program Instructor- Certification to lead or willingness to complete certification for specific class(es) being taught.
- Exercise Class Instructor- CPR/First Aid certification or willingness to complete. Must remain certified.
- Exercise Class Instructor- Group Fitness Instructor certification preferred.
