Position Summary: The Supervised Visitation Monitor for The Chaves County CASA Program is a full-time position responsible for the hands-on direct assistance and education to families and children who are referred for Supervised Visitation services. This may include scheduling, transportation, face-to-face supervision, audio and/or video supervision, fully supervised or semi-supervised visits at established visitation sites, parent training and education before and after visits. The target population to be served are those families and children involved in Custody disputes and CYFD. Services may be provided in conjunction with a home-based family preservation program which utilizes a strengths-based solution-focused model. The Supervised Visitation Monitor is expected to maintain a professional level of ethics and confidentiality at all times. The Supervised Visitation Monitor is trauma-informed and ensures an exceptionally high quality of services and safety for those involved in the program

Program Management
- Assists Supervised Visitation Coordinator in daily tasks and at the direction of the Visitation Coordinator helps maintain policy guidelines and ensures overall safety and quality of the supervised visitation program.
- Ensures that proper data collection and reporting are completed in a thorough and timely manner. Maintains client files on a daily basis as required by the program’s policies.
- Ensures monthly billing to CYFD, courts, and other funding sources.
- Records and maintains video recordings as required.
- Maintain daily visitation/transport/exchange schedule.
- Maintain the cleanliness and appearance of the visitation center at all times.
- Participate in CASA staff meetings, fundraising events, regional events and trainings as requested.
Direct Services to Clients
- Maintains strict standards of confidentiality.
- Supervise visits as outlined by the court, CYFD or other referral source which may include hands-on assistance and education (several times per week) to the family in an effort to meet goals.
- Schedule and provide transportation as outlined in the case plan.
- Be available for flexible scheduling seven days per week.
- Participate in case conferences and court appearances upon request as outlined in the case plan.
- Participate in ongoing assessment and evaluation of the family’s goals. Provide written and verbal feedback to clients regarding their conduct and progress in the visits.
- Relay information between the child(ren)’s parents relevant to the child’s welfare at the commencement and conclusion of the supervised visit, (e.g. medication, diet, etc.) in written form.
- Monitor and provide a safe and trauma-informed visitation environment for children and terminate the visit if it is not deemed appropriate or parties involved have improper conduct.
- Clearly define the rules of visitation with all parties involved and notify referring agency if rules are violated. Provide feedback or correction to the relevant party.
- Intervene when appropriate to ensure the safety and welfare of the child.
- Provide necessary client information to referring department and the family (contact logs, reports, case updates).
- Establish and maintain appropriate professional files which provide all necessary documentation regarding the family.
- Reports to court if and when requested.
- Trained to handle de-escalation.
- Needs to be capable and willing to lift children as needed.
Client Driver Services (as needed):
- Those providing client transportation must be 21 years of age.
- Must hold a current and valid New Mexico Driver’s License and provide a clean and current driving record from the New Mexico Motor Vehicle Department.
- Must provide proof of current vehicle insurance.
- Must provide and maintain child safety while transporting to and from supervised visitation.
- Maintain daily cleanliness and maintenance of the program’s vehicle.

Education
Associates Degree in psychology, social work, counseling or related field or experience in the field of child advocacy preferred. High School Diploma/GED Required.
Licenses
Must possess a valid New Mexico driver's license. Proof of current insurance is required for any staff providing transportation to clients. If purporting to be a licensed Mental Health Professional, an active New Mexico license (or the ability to obtain one) is required.
Experience
At least two years’ experience working in a high-paced, multi-disciplinary office setting is preferred but not required.
Training
- Must complete the Court Appointed Special Advocate Training.
- Must complete de-escalation and trauma informed training as directed by the Supervised Visitation Coordinator.
- Must complete any required SVN In-Service training.
- Must complete sexual abuse awareness training.
Computer and Equipment Skills:
Intermediate to advanced software skills to include Microsoft Office or similar software and Internet and Email programs such as Outlook or similar program. Must learn to use current electronic records software. Ability to use office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax/scan machines
Language Skills - Ability to communicate in English is essential. Spanish communication is desired, but not required.Ability to comprehend the English language sufficiently to communicate complicated ideas and positions, prepare written correspondence and documentation, and inform a wide array of individuals about CASA Program policies and procedures. Must demonstrate ability to use Word Processing, Spreadsheet and Email software. Must learn to use current electronic records software. Excellent oral and written communications skills.
Problem Solving - Identifies and resolves problems in a timely manner. Gathers and analyzes information skillfully, develops alternative solutions, works well in group problem solving situations. Excellent crisis intervention skills. Notifies the Department Director of problems and proposed solutions.

Must be able to remain in a stationary position 50% of the time. The person in this position needs to occasionally move about inside the office to access file cabinets, office machinery, etc. The SupervisedVisitation Monitor will constantly operate a computer and other office productivity machinery, such as a calculator, copy machine and computer printer. The person in this position frequently communicates with visitors and must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations. Must be able to recognize and observe visitors and staff. Occasionally moves boxes, decorations or equipment weighing up to 50 pounds for various staff support and event needs.
Typical mental demands
Must be able to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Must be able to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. Ability to learn and perform all essential job functions accurately and safely with minimum direct supervision two months after the employee begins work. No direct supervision should be required at the end of six months’ probation period.
Must be able to develop extensive knowledge of the Chaves County CASA’s mission, purpose, departments, goals, operations, and the role of the SupervisedVisitation Monitor in achieving this mission.
Must be able to observe safety and security procedures, and reports potentially unsafe conditions to the HR Manager/Department Director
