Are you a detail-oriented individual with a passion for automotive refinishing? Are you skilled in preparing surfaces for painting? We are currently seeking a full-time, experienced Paint Prepper to join our team at Chaz Limited Collision Express in Wasilla, AK. As a Paint Prepper, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth and efficient operation of our automotive paint department.
We are looking for a dependable employee who can come to work on time, be personable with customers and work well with a team while being self-motivated. Must be able to work Monday-Friday between the hours of 8:00am-5:00pm, with occasional overtime as required.
Responsibilities:
- Prepares vehicles for painting by removing parts, sanding surfaces, masking areas not to be painted, and cleaning surfaces using solvents and other cleaning agents
- Mixes and applies filler, primer, and paint to vehicles using spray equipment and hand tools
- Follow all paint manufacturer guidelines
- Ensures all areas are properly prepped, primed, and painted to match customer specifications
- Maintains a clean and organized work area, including cleaning and maintaining tools and equipment
- Maintains inventory of supplies and orders materials as needed
- Communicates with other members of the team to ensure work is completed on schedule and to quality standards
Requirements:
- Valid AK Driver License and an acceptable driving record
- Ability to drive a manual
- Strong attention to detail
- Ability to work with minimal supervision
- Strong knowledge of surface preparation techniques required, including sanding, filling, and masking
- Ability to use and maintain painting tools and equipment, such as sanders, buffers, and spray guns
- Familiarity with various types of automotive paints, primers, and clear coats
- 2 years of experience in a fast-paced, high volume auto body paint department highly preferred
- I-Car, ASE, or manufacturer certifications preferred
