MATERIAL PLANNER SCHEDULER

SUMMARY OF POSITION:

 The Materials Planner/Scheduler manages the supply levels for our manufacturing operations.  Responsibilities include forecasting supply needs and ensuring that materials are on hand. This position focuses on vendor management related to sourcing the raw materials needed to produce Check-Mate Products. The Materials Planner/Scheduler negotiates contracts with suppliers, submits purchase orders, and expediting orders when necessary.  Working knowledge with ERP software such as PLEX or SAP.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:  Includes, but may not be limited to the following:

• Schedules the supply of materials/components to meet production requirements and minimum safety stock levels.
• Schedules product shipment to customers per Check-Mate’s demand schedule, reduce bottlenecks and forecast problems.
• Organizes and schedules customer deliveries.  Process customer shipment inquiries or complaints and schedule changes or cancellations for shipment orders.
• Plans, develops, implements and evaluates processes for material delivery from supplier to point of fit.
• Assesses volume requirements against planning assumptions.
• Manages the day-to-day order management and management of deliveries.
• Understands and manages risk to minimize impact on production schedule.
• Takes follow up actions in relation to material shortages that affect production.
• Implements all processes to agreed standards and targets and support continuous improvement initiatives and identify areas of improvement.
• Utilizes PEX System to ensure that data is accurate and up to date and resolve any issues as required using root cause analysis.
• Monitors the integrity of Bill of Materials (BOM) and manage inventory accuracy.
• Monitors inventory levels against agreed target levels.
• Supports inventory checks to validate inventory accuracy.
• Orders supplies so manufacturing can continue without interruption
• Expedites orders when supplies are low.
• Adjusts order sizes as needs fluctuate.
• Minimizes obsolete stock and ensures business is left with minimum liability.
• Creates regular statistical reports and analysis and updates others in the organization.
• Collaborates with internal and external stakeholders to forecast, plan and facilitate on-time materials to the production line as and when required, avoiding disruption to production.
• Generates and communicates supplier material delivery schedules and forecasts to ensure they reflect requirements and meet demands.
• Develops and maintains good relationships with suppliers and ensure demand for materials is met and deliveries made on time.
• Develops and implements processes and work with suppliers on continuous improvement initiatives.
• Supports assessment and sourcing of suppliers in conjunction with members of the purchasing team.
• Supports supplier meetings and negotiations to ensure demand for materials is met.
• Resolves supplier concerns and evaluate supplier performance in conjunction with members of the purchasing team.

Minimum Requirements:

• BS/BA preferred from an accredited institution of higher learning in business, logistics, engineering, or supply chain management
• 3-5 years of manufacturing material planning and scheduling experience in metal stamping, tool & die and assembly
• 1-5 years of ERP System experience (PLEX and/or SAP)
• 3-5 years of shipping and receiving in manufacturing
• 3-5 years inventory control/management in a manufacturing environment
• 3-5 years of manufacturing experience in a metal stamping, tool & Die and Assembly environment.
• APICS Certification is a plus but not required
• Strong decision making and problem-solving skills
• Demonstrated experience in planning, scheduling or project management
• Strong communication, organizational skills, customer service, and attention to detail
• Organization skills (managing production lines and coordinating multiple parts to ensure the smooth running of manufacturing)
• Time Management.  Maintain tight schedules and possess the ability to prioritize, schedule, set and meet manufacturing goals.
• Strong critical thinking skills

• Excellent communication skills
• Must be familiar with using computers
