Formerly the family home of Mabel and Leslie Cheek, Cheekwood now serves the public as a botanical garden, arboretum, and museum with period rooms and art galleries. Cheekwood’s mission is to stimulate the mind and nurture the spirit, for not only our visitors, but our staff as well.
We are currently seeking a Housekeeper/Custodian (Part time). You would be responsible for daily housekeeping duties to maintain the highest standards for cleanliness throughout all buildings on campus, including public and non-public areas at Cheekwood.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Clean by dusting, sweeping, mopping, washing, vacuuming, polishing, brushing, disinfecting, or scrubbing to maintain furniture, furnishings, floors, walls, windows, doors, and other surfaces.
- Remove and properly dispose of trash and recyclables from indoor receptacles and directly support trash removal throughout the grounds.
- Complete daily routines to maintain high standards in cleanliness as well as scheduled deep-cleaning activities, such as high-dusting, baseboard maintenance, and grout cleaning.
- Restock restroom supplies to always maintain an appropriate inventory, especially paper products and hand soap.
- Request and store cleaning supplies in a safe and orderly manner and provide routine maintenance on cleaning tools and equipment.
- Clean and maintain wax and polish finishes on floors; refinish floors, as required.
- Move furniture and equipment as requested by housekeeping supervisor.
- Report any repairs needed to furniture, fixtures, or facilities.
- Provide support to, and work with, other team members including the security team, rentals team, education team, maintenance team, museum team, and others.
- Ensure all doors in assigned work area are locked at the completion of shift.
- Perform other related duties as required.
- Maintains a constant awareness of the guest experience and makes every reasonable effort to ensure the safety and comfort of all persons moving throughout the buildings.

Requirements
- Demonstrated strong work ethic; ability to work efficiently and effectively with minimal supervision
- Effective written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to address all visitors/team members in a courteous and respectful manner
- Experience with and knowledge of standard cleaning procedures and equipment
- Ability to comprehend product labels and instructions to ensure safe product handling
- Ability to multi-task and perform duties with a determined timeframe
- Valid driver’s license preferred
- Must be able to work evenings and weekends
- Part time - 24 hours per week
