Title : Student Worker - AVID Peer Mentor Summer Program (Internal Only) (Summer 2024)
This position has 12 openings.
Location : CPS High School
Reports to : Jacquelyn Boyd
General Duties : Under the general supervision of the principal and AVID Program Manager and the immediate supervision of the AVID elective teacher, AVID Tutors assist students in academic subjects in order to develop habits of mind and higher standards of academic achievement among students which will increase postsecondary educational options upon high school graduation.
AVID Tutors are distinguished from other Tutors and Instructional Aides / Assistants in that AVID Tutors are trained in the use of AVID strategies to enhance academic performance of targeted high school students and serve as role models and mentors.
Other responsibilities include, but are not limited to :
- Works under appointed CPS staff at designated locations weekly to complete assigned tasks.
- Frequent communication and is accountable to supervisor to report weekly hours, completion of assignments, updates on progress of manual,etc
- Keep safety as a priority. Emphasize the importance of the personal safety and emotional well-being of self and others
- Fully participate in program activities and serve as a role model and leader.
Note : These are minimum requirements. CPS support staff may expand upon any of these
duties as they see fit, but must meet these daily requirements.
Qualifications :
- Must be an CHS student in good standing
- Must be a AVID Student
- Must maintain grades and behaviors at CHS, reflective of what a CHS student mentor should possess
Compensation : $15.75 per hour.
