What are the responsibilities and job description for the Controls Engineer position at Chemtall/ SNF Holding?
SUMMARY:
The Controls Engineer will be responsible for assisting in designing, commissioning, shutting, and troubleshooting control systems, their networks, and any related hardware for process control, such as DCS, PLCs, Data Recorders, and Network Switches. The working environment is a small team, but the Controls Engineer will need to develop and maintain productive working relationships with production engineers, supervisors, R&D, and maintenance.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Work with Process / Project Engineers to develop and maintain DCS and PLC control logic for chemical processes.
- Participate in the commissioning of control systems and related equipment.
- Communicate with plant operations for control system optimization and process improvement.
- Perform maintenance and troubleshooting on existing control systems and network equipment.
- Maintain required documentation for control systems.
- Ensure that potential safety and environmental issues related to projects are considered at all stages of startup, shutdown, and continuous operations of process equipment.
- Performs work under minimal supervision and handles moderate to complex projects and issues.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Associate Degree or certificate in Electrical Engineering Technology, BS in Computer Science, or BS in a relevant Engineering major is required.
- Two or more years of experience in logic development in an industrial environment. Programming skills with Yokogawa DCS or Rockwell PLC systems are a plus.
- Strong process background and solid working knowledge of control systems.
- Possesses a solid working knowledge of subject matter and focuses on improving chemical process control technology and installed equipment knowledge.
- Troubleshooting/problem-solving ability on control systems and instrumentation.
- Ability to work as an integral part of a team.
- Strong communication (written and verbal) skills. Receives and acts upon feedback from supervisor.
- Time management skills and ability to manage multiple tasks concurrently.
