Job Description
Scope of the Position
Electrical & Instrument Technicians at our our Liquid Sodium Hydrosulphite and Zinc Oxide production plant located in Leeds, SC install, repair or maintain in accordance with manufacturer’s or site specifications, electrical and instrument equipment using hand tools, power tools and precision measuring and testing instruments.
Rate: $35/hr to start
Position: Hourly with opportunity for overtime
Shift: Mon-Fri, 7am - 3:30pm
What You Need To Be Successful
- High school diploma or GED equivalency is required.
- Five (5) years' minimum industry experience in instrumentation and electrical.
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, procedure manuals, manufacturer’s literature, diagrams or schematics.
- Good verbal and written communication skills and computer knowledge.
Key Responsibilities
- Inspect, repair and/or replace items such as instruments, valves, disconnects and starters in order to protect personnel, equipment and to keep processes running.
- Measure, cut, bend and install conduit, fittings and tubing as needed to install or repair equipment.
- Install, examine, replace or repair electrical wire, receptacles, switch boxes, conduits, feeders, fiber optic and coaxial cable assemblies, lighting fixtures
- Lock, tag, try and test energy sources in order make equipment inoperable and safe to work on.
- Plan and coordinate work with other crafts while installing new work or replacing existing parts with new models.
- Troubleshoot and make repairs on automatic valves, electrical starters, motors, relays, pneumatic and electronic instrumentation.
- Perform routine maintenance on electrical, pneumatic and mechanical devices using hand and power tools, electrical and electronic measuring and test devices, diagnostic equipment, vendor literature, technical manuals, blueprints and schematic diagrams.
- Remove and place back into service control type instrumentation after calibrating, services, troubleshooting, range change and maintenance work performed such as:
o Flow transmitters
o Level transmitters
o Temperature transmitters
o On-line process analyzers
- Basic computer skills for ordering materials, communication, entering equipment history and electronic mail.
- Remove malfunctioning motors. Replace with new or rebuilt.
- Must be capable of wearing all protective type of equipment needed to complete jobs in safe and orderly fashion.
- Dismantle and remove old equipment and wire without interfering with unit operation.• Maintain a clean and orderly work area.
- Receive training and be able to retrieve OSHA information such as PSM, MSDS, hazardous material lists, safety procedures, corporate standards, etc.
- I&E Technicians will reinforce the safety principles of the area and site and ensure trainees follow the standard work practices and procedures.
- Troubleshoot electronic instrumentation problems related to the process and make necessary repairs.
- Comply with plant safety and environmental requirements, accepting the responsibility for personal safety. Must know the process hazards and mechanical hazards of assigned job and what safety equipment is required.
- Be available to work overtime and understand that it is a job requirement if no volunteers can be found.
- Troubleshoot and correct problems with Distributive Control Systems equipment using test equipment and techniques to restore equipment to operation.
- Perform routine maintenance on Distributive Control Systems using hand and power tools, electrical and electronic measuring and test devices, diagnostic equipment, vendor literature, technical manuals, blueprints and schematic diagrams.
- Troubleshoot and repair solid state electronic devices.
- Create, review and modify job procedures, SOP’s and other knowledge documents.
