COMPENSATION:
$2493-$4158/season depending on prior experience as documented and approved by AD/HR; Coaching contract pay will be spread throughout the months of the season for those not otherwise employed by the district; Pay for current District employees will begin the month the activity begins and be spread over remaining months of fiscal year (Sept-Aug)
BENEFITS:
Upon reaching 630 hours worked, coaches will become eligible for and be offered medical, dental, vision, and basic life and AD&D insurance through SEBB
QUALIFICATIONS:
WIAA certification; Current first aid/CPR card (training may be provided by District); WSP/FBI criminal history background clearance; Ability and willingness to obtain Type II Commercial Driver’s license (training provided by District)
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Appropriate certification as determined by WIAA, the state, and the district.
- Previous successful middle school wrestling coaching experience preferred.
- Substantial knowledge of the technical aspects of wrestling and an interest to examine new theories and procedures.
- Current first aid/CPR card required.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Teach the fundamentals of wrestling.
- Teach appreciation of rules and regulations, care of equipment and facilities, fair play, respect for others, and personal safety/hygiene.
- Reflect enthusiasm for the program and participants in order to make it a worthwhile endeavor for students and parents.
- Hold necessary practices to prepare players.
- Follow school, district, and WIAA rules and regulations.
- Assist with maintaining documentation to fulfill state and district requirements concerning physical examinations, parental consent, and eligibility.
- Assist with monitoring and ensuring scholastic eligibility of players.
- Continually update techniques and skills through course work and clinics.
- Conduct self in an ethical manner during practices and games, model and require discipline and ethical behavior from players.
- Perform other duties that may be assigned by the head coach and/or athletic director.
REQUIRED SKILLS:
- Demonstrated knowledge of fundamentals of the game/sport, practice organization, rules/safety, and game management.
- Ability to organize and supervise a total activity program.
- Ability to organize and demonstrate skills to athletes.
- Ability to communicate in a positive manner with students, parents, staff, the community, and the media.
- Ability to motivate a variety of individual personalities toward a successful and positive learning/playing experience.
- Model appropriate behavior to students and spectators.
- Allow involvement and decision-making of players and student participants to the degree appropriate.
- Encourage and recognize positive conduct at student activities.
- Model sportsmanlike conduct in dealing with officials and opponents regardless of the circumstances.
