Overview Interviews clients to assess and determine needs. Develops short and long range goals to promote self-sufficiency.
Works with internal and external agencies to develop intermediate and long range plans for clients with emphasis in violence prevention education, community outreach, and works with adolescents and teenagers.
Qualifications EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENT Bachelor's degree from a 4-year college or university; or six years related experience;
EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENT At least six months experience in a related field. COMPUTER SKILLS An individual should have knowledge of Database software, Internet software, and Word Processing software.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS Must possess a valid driver's license with a driving history verified through a motor vehicle report that meets requirements for Cherokee Nation underwriting rating.
Primary duties is to be present in the community, visit community agencies and events, and to transport clients. OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES Must have knowledge of community outreach principals, violence prevention, and education awareness concepts.
Must be willing to work with adolescents and be able to effetively speak to the public OTHER QUALIFICATIONS Employee must not and will not be under sanction by the United States Department of Health and Human Services Office of the Inspector General (OIG) or by the General Services Administration (GSA) or listed on the OIG’s Cumulative Sanction Report, or the GSA’s List of Excluded Providers, or listed on the OIG’s List of Excluded Individuals / Entities (LEIE).
Must meet and maintain pre-employment and periodic background investigation and adjudication for child care. PHYSICAL DEMANDS While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear and use hands to finger, handle, or feel.
The employee is frequently required to stand; walk; sit; and to reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to taste or smell and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
The employee must frequently lift and / or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and / or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, distance vision and the ability to correct / adjust focus.
WORK ENVIRONMENT While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is occasionally exposed to outside weather conditions.
The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
Interviews applicants to determine needs and eligibility for assistance. Makes home visits as necessary. Determines the nature and extent of the applicant's needs.
Makes determinations of each client's eligibility for tribal and other social services programs. Promotes clients independence by educating clients in modifying attitudes and patterns of behavior.
Maintains communication with tribal, state, and county agencies to coordinate, refer, and avoid duplication of services.
Maintains required records and provides reports as assigned. Promotes violence prevention awareness through community outreach and individual contacts.
Provides violence prevention education in residential, community, and home settings. Performs other duties as assigned. Other duties may be assigned.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES This position has no supervisory responsibilities.
EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENT Bachelor's degree from a 4-year college or university; or six years related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Prefer a degree in Social Work, Education, Psychology, Family & Consumer Sciences, Criminal Justice, or related field. EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENT At least six months experience in a related field.
