Requirements:
- High school diploma or GED
- Completion of an online 30-hour training program and certification exam required (completed after hire).
- Two years’ experience preferred: working in a health care setting, insurance, community outreach or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job listed below.
- Bi-lingual in English and Spanish
Responsibilities:
- Conduct outreach to non-health center persons in the health center’s service area
- Help individuals understand and access affordability options (Medicaid, Marketplace, and CHIP) following all training guidelines
- Maintain expertise in eligibility, enrollment, and program specifications
- Provide information and assistance in a fair, accurate and impartial manner
- Provide information and assistance in a manner that is culturally and linguistically appropriate to diverse communities and accessible to individuals with disabilities (following CLAS standards)
- Provide referrals to any applicable office of health insurance consumer assistance or ombudsman established under Section 2793 of the PHS Act to address consumer grievances, complaints, or questions about their health plan, coverage, or a determination
- Provide education to health center staff at all sites regarding insurance options so that they can assist in educating their patients/clients
- Provide educational materials regarding insurance options to community partners including health departments, hospitals, urgent cares, physician’s offices, and human services agencies and collaborate and coordinate outreach efforts with them
- Conduct public education activities to community groups to raise awareness of the Marketplace
- Represent the health center at health fairs and other events to provide education regarding health insurance coverage
- Assist persons with enrollment in the Marketplace and Medicaid
- Facilitate consumer selection of a Qualified Health Plan
- Other duties as assigned.
