FLOOR SUPERVISOR
Supervisor: Food & Beverage Director
FLSA Status: Non-exempt, Full-time, Hourly
Location: Malvern, PA
What We’re Looking For:
Chester Valley Golf Club is looking for a dedicated Floor Supervisor to oversee the dining areas across CVGC’s facilities. They will work closely with and handle additional tasks as requested by the Food & Beverage management team. The Floor Supervisor assures a high standard of appearance, hospitality, and service in personnel and cleanliness of all dining areas. In addition, they ensure timeliness and accuracy of food service. They are responsible for supervising and training dining room staff. CVGC is looking for a Floor Supervisor who will work independently, as well as part of a team, with flexibility and eagerness to learn and to take initiative on a variety of responsibilities.
Job Tasks/Duties:
- Maintains cleanliness and sanitation of all service areas, glassware and equipment through regular inspections.
- Develops standard operating procedures to help assure that service areas are set-up and operated efficiently.
- Works with managers to maintain and keeps current training manuals.
- Designs dining floorplans and assigns servers to sections to accommodate reservations.
- Plans dining room set-up based on anticipated guest counts and client needs.
- Takes reservations and maintains reservation schedule and log.
- Greets and seats members and guests.
- Inspects service staff to ensure they are in proper and clean uniforms at all times.
- Servers as liaison between dining areas and kitchen staff.
- Assures that all laws applicable to beverage operations are consistently followed.
- Works with other managers to ensure efficient food & beverage service in all of the club’s outlets and for special functions.
- Inspects to ensure that the club’s sanitation, safety, energy management, preventive maintenance and other programs are implemented and complied with as they apply to food & beverage operation.
- Handles complaints from club members, guests and others relative to the Food & Beverage Department.
- Produces shift reports containing information on member-related issues, cover counts and any other concerns occurring during that time period.
- Assists with private parties and service in food and beverage outlets when necessary.
- Plans and develops training programs and professional development opportunities for himself or herself and all other service personnel.
- Conducts scheduled pre-shirt meetings with service staff.
- Attends staff and management meetings.
- Monitors staff opening and closing procedures (checklist) and assures that area is complete and secure.
- May serve as bartender or server, if needed.
- Assures that the club’s policies and procedures for selling alcoholic beverages are consistently followed in all beverage outlets and at all club functions.
- May serve as club’s opening or closing manager or manager on duty.
- Maintains a service log regarding any notable member or guest behavior.
- Other duties as assigned within the scope of position expectations.

- Responsible for management of dining room service in all areas of the Club.
- Maintains a high level of member contact throughout all service hours.
- Ensures all Club rules and standards are met by Members and their guests. Communicates to supervisor/Board of Governors when they are not.
- Assures a high standard of appearance, hospitality, and service in lounge areas.
- Knowledgeable of all aspects of department and daily club operation, including scheduled events and operating hours.
- Acts ethically and honestly at all times.
- Strong organizational skills.
- Assures that all state and local laws and club policies and procedures for the service of alcoholic beverages are consistently followed.
- Knowledge of and ability to perform required role during emergency situations.
Physical Demands and Work Environment
- Must be able to push, pull or lift up to 50 pounds.
- Must be able to handle hot and cold interior and outdoor conditions, as well as noisy environments.
- Independent mobility throughout the clubhouse.
- Must be able to stand for long periods and walk, climb stairs, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, bend, stretch and twist or reach.
- Must have a high level of physical fitness.
- Must be comfortable completing continuous repetitive motions.
- Unusual working conditions: May be scheduled nights, weekends, holidays and occasional overtime; may work indoors or outdoors in a variety of weather conditions; working with wet/slippery floors, sharp objects, fumes and electrical equipment.
Education and/or Experience
- High School diploma or GED (required)
- Minimum 1 year of service experience (preferred)
- Extensive knowledge of the private club industry’s food and beverage operations (preferred).
- Must have open availability for flexible scheduling.
- Must have an approachable disposition.
- Strong communication skills.
- Experience with Jonas software system (preferred, but not required).
Licenses and Special Requirements
- Current ServSafe Food safety certification (preferred)
- Must be 18 years or older to remain in compliance with the legal age to prepare and serve alcoholic beverages in PA.
- Current RAMP Alcoholic beverage certification.
