1 Chevron Renewable Energy Group is accepting online applications for the position of Biodiesel Lab Technician through September 18th, 2023, at 11:59 p.m. CSTThe selected candidate will be responsible for assisting with technical support to the renewable energy group with an emphasis on maintaining and improving the quality of the current production as well as validating the quality of the incoming feedstock.
Responsibilities for this position may include but are not limited to:
- Performing quality testing on incoming/refined ingredients.
- Performing quality testing on in-process products.
- Performing quality testing on the finished product.
- Performing quality testing on co-products.
Data Analysis duties
- Perform analytical testing utilizing various laboratory instrumentation including (but not limited to): GC-FID, Karl Fisher titrator, densitometer, ICP, and sulfur analyzer.
- Analyze the analytical information and communicate the results efficiently and accurately to management.
- Perform instrument calibration and verification per manufacturing recommendation, ASTM D6751 test methods, and internal work instruction.
- Participate in the SQC program, BQ9000 program, REG’s Quality Program, and FSMA program.
- Recording of testing data in a timely manner.
Instrument Maintenance and Troubleshooting duties
- Perform Laboratory standard and reagent preparation.
- Perform activities related to the continuous improvement of laboratory operations, including testing accuracy and precision in compliance with statistical quality assurance.
- Troubleshoot instrumentation problems if/when they arise and offer solutions/recommendations for remediation.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma/GED or equivalent.
- Valid driver's license.
- Experience in the field or a laboratory setting, depending on educational background
- Availability to work Monday through Friday, occasionally work a rotating shift or do overtime.
- Excellent MS Office skills
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Demonstrate attention to detail and documentation.
- Maintain a clean and orderly working environment.
- Ability to read and follow instructions.
- Manage multiple tasks simultaneously and in a timely manner.
- Record data and generate reports on a timely basis.
Preferred Qualifications
- An associate degree in a science-related is preferred.
- Analytical ability to identify the root cause of measurement error, comprehension of instrument technical specifications, and calibration procedures.
Relocation Options:
Relocation may be considered within Chevron's parameters.
International Considerations:
Expatriate assignments will not be considered.
