What are the responsibilities and job description for the Technical Project Manager position at Chewy?

Our Opportunity:

This individual will be a part of FC Analytics team that supports multiple groups within the company including IT/Data Warehouse, Fulfillment, and supply chain teams. You will work towards becoming subject matter experts in the various systems/applications used within our fulfillment center networks today, and how those systems handle data and integrate within the physical operation process flow of our fulfillment center. You’ll be successful in this role by executing various tasks to support project rollouts in a cross functional environment, managing communications, and formally documenting these changes.

 What You'll Do:

  • Leading the initiation, requirements, design, development, testing, and implementation phases of analytics projects working with developers and business leaders to quickly provide high quality solutions to technical and business problems.
  • Assist with design, development, and maintenance of ongoing metrics, reports, analyses, and dashboards to drive key business decisions.
  • Work closely with the business on delivering standardized reporting Infrastructure and applications to our growing number of new and expanding Fulfillment Centers
  • Responsible for partnering with the project owner/sponsor and all stakeholders to create and implement appropriate solutions based on business objectives.  
  • Manage updates on assigned tasks based on priorities established by senior program managers.
  • Initiates and ensures project management and standard methodologies are followed and change management procedures and supporting tools/policies are used in executing all projects as appropriate.
  • Communicates status updates, technical issues, impact, and risk mitigation strategies in business terminology that can be communicated to and understood by non-technical resources.
  • Formally document and record existing processes and updates as they are made to the systems/applications
  • Execute User Acceptance Testing of enhancements to our dashboards, labor management system and additional new applications as the company continues to grow and expand
  • Support continuous improvement in safety, quality, cost, and delivery experience within the fulfillment network.
  • Perform end-user training and communicate new system updates with stakeholders
  • Demonstrate strong communication, organization, and planning skills to manage tasks effectively and complete projects as assigned to aggressive timelines
  • Research new technology to address complex problems
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

What You'll Need:

  • A Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited University and 3 years of management/ problem solving experience in fulfillment center/warehouse operations; prefer retail/e-commerce experience
  • Ability to effectively operate both independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong project management and continuous improvement skills. Experience in managing Water Fall and Agile or Iterative development projects desired
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, oral and written communication skills and strong attention to detail
  • Proven ability to quickly adapt and drive the right results using data
  • Experience with inventory management, labor management, and warehouse management systems and processes
  • Use their organization and planning skills to manage tasks effectively and complete projects as expected. 
  • Advanced Excel experience.
  • Basic Experience in SQL
  • Experience using Smartsheet, SharePoint, and JIRA/Confluence

What Separates You from The Pack:

  • Project Management Institute PMP Certification
  • Basic Tableau experience

 

Compensation & Benefits

Our salary range for a job title position is $78,500.00-$138,500.00. The specific salary offered to a candidate may be influenced by a variety of factors including but not limited to the candidate’s relevant experience, education, and work location. In addition, this position is eligible for 401k and a new hire and annual equity grant.

Non-exempt hourly team members accrue paid time off (PTO) while salaried-exempt team members have unlimited PTO, subject to manager approval. Non-exempt hourly team members in Fulfillment Centers and Customer Service are also eligible for additional unplanned unpaid time off (UTO). Team members will receive six paid holidays per year. Team members may be eligible for paid sick and family leave in compliance with applicable state and local regulations.
