A Day in the Life of a Resource CNA:

The Resource CNA provides basic patient care under the direct supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN). Assesses, plans, implements and evaluates individual patient care within the scope of his/her training and experience. Assigned to multiple units according to distribution of staff and patients.

Here Is What You Will Be Doing:

  • Provides direct patient care including but not limited to assistance with bathing, eating, dressing, and walking patients.
  • Keeps record of care given.
  • Takes vital signs (temperature, blood pressure, pulse, respiratory rate, and pulse oximetry) and performs adult bedside blood glucose monitoring when appropriate.
  • Turns and repositions patients to prevent breakdown of their skin.
  • Changes bed linens as necessary.
  • Transports patients and equipment as needed within the facility.
  • Monitors patients and reports any variances to the RN for further assessment.
  • Works collaboratively with the RN in charge to meet physicians, coworkers, management and other department’s needs.
  • Participates in bedside shift report. Provides unit support as needed, which may include answering and relaying patient calls, accepting and relaying other communications, performing clerical tasks, completing and maintaining reports and records, or ordering supplies.
  • I understand that it is not within my scope of practice to handle any medications that I might inadvertently come in contact with, including medications delivered in the pneumatic tube system. If I do come in contact with medications, I know to alert a licensed employee for them to handle.

  • Verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills

 

Here Is What You Will Need:

  • Wyoming Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) license
  • 6 Months: Mandatory Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) certification/training within six (6) months of start date
  • Cheyenne Regional AHA RQI within 14 calendar days of start date

 

Nice to Have:

  • Prior acute care experience
  • Six (6) or more months of experience as a CNA
