POSITION SUMMARY
Under general supervision, prepares various schedules, accounting statements, financial reports and journal entries. Analyzes and compiles accounting data and financial information as required.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Analyzes and compiles accounting data and financial information used in the preparation of accounting journals and financial reporting.
- Prepares journal entries and adjustments.
- Performs physical inventories of assets, reconciles and performs analysis on various general ledger accounts
- Maintains various accounting records and files.
- Required to properly record and post journal entries, and prepare financial statements.
- Performs related duties as assigned.

- Ensuring data is loaded accurately into accounting systems.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance.
- One (1) year of accounting experience preferred.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Requires remaining in a stationary position for extended periods of time and constantly operating a computer and other office productivity machinery.
- May be required to travel to various field locations as part of scheduled property and storeroom inventories, or on special project assignments. Working conditions will vary depending on location assigned.
- Service Area Requirement: Exempt (Non-Union) employees must live within the boundaries of the CTA Statutory Service Area either at the time of employment or within 6 months of beginning employment at CTA.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
- Working knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
- Working knowledge of the practices and principles in Accounting
- Working knowledge of business related software including Access, Excel, Word, etc.
- Working knowledge of the processes and procedures in the preparation of accounting statements, records, and reports
- Good organization skills and attention to detail
- Good verbal and written communication skills
- Intermediate financial information analysis skills.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and integrity of the Accounting department
WORKING CONDITIONS
- General office environment
- May be required to travel to various filed locations as part of scheduled assignments
EQUIPMENT, TOOLS, AND MATERIALS UTILIZED
- Personal computer and related software (Microsoft Word, Power Point, Excel).
- Other standard office equipment.
Final salary will be determined in part by the qualifications of the selected candidate and may be higher or lower than target.
