Position Requirements:
We are seeking an enthusiastic Provisional Pre-K Plus Teacher to guide a classroom of young children in a variety of educational activities while helping them prepare for kindergarten. Patience, compassion, and energy are all vital qualities of a successful Pre-K Plus Teacher. You should be capable of inspiring encouraging, and developing young children while recognizing they all have different abilities, challenges, and personalities. - Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development or closely related field with at least 18 credit hours of Early Childhood Education or Child Development.
- Enrollment in a teacher certification program that is approved by CCA, with a completion of program in EC-6 teaching certification within 18 months of hire.
- Previous classroom experience teaching preschool children.
- Must demonstrate excellent written and verbal communication skills & be able to interact professionally with adults.
- Have working knowledge of human behavior and have expressive and receptive language abilities.
- Ability to incorporate creativity with learning experiences.
- Computer proficiency required.
- Enjoy daily contact with children.
- Must be able to pass a pre-employment and/or periodic physical examination, TB skin test, and a complete background check every 24 months.

- Must be able to walk at a fast pace for extended periods of time.
- Participate and incorporate brisk ten (10) minute walks with children into daily routine/lesson plans.
- Must be able to stand for extended periods of time.
- Ability to lift/carry up to 30 pounds.
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision and the ability to adjust focus.
- Must be able frequently to twist, turn, kneel, bend and stoop multiple times per day.
- Must be able to sit on the floor and interact with small children.
- Must be able to perform physical activities with children.
- Must be able to monitor children’s safety in all activities.
Responsibilities:
- Plan and implement daily learning experiences that advance the intellectual and physical growth and development of children to improve school readiness;
- Provide a high quality early learning experience for children ages three to five, while establishing developmentally appropriate classroom environment favorable to the development and personal growth of children;
- Create group and individual learning experiences that align with the Head Start Early Learning Outcomes Framework, that support the language and literacy, approaches to learning, perceptual, motor and physical, social and emotional and cognitive development of children;
- Create a well-organized classroom that is developmentally appropriate and inviting for pre-school age children;
- Collaborate with ISD staff to prepare, plan and post weekly lesson and small group plans;
- Establish and maintain positive ongoing communication with each child and their family through home visits and parent conferences as required;
- Participate in annual CLASS assessments to measure the quality of adult-child interaction to support ongoing improvement;
- Model conversation, manners, clean-up activities, listening skills, etc., to demonstrate appropriate social interaction and communication;
- Create and maintain a safe, healthy learning environment;
- Include activities that support the social and emotional development of children;
- Utilize a predetermined curriculum and incorporate materials that address individualized lesson plans;
- Constantly observe children and maintain child assessment records as required by CCA and ISD partner;
- Develop activities and use technology to promote creative expression;
- Implement indoor & outdoor activities that encourage and promote physical development;
- Provide learning experiences that promote cognitive development;
- Demonstrate responsive care, effective teaching practices, including the implementation of positive strategies to support children’s well-being, and prevent and address challenging behaviors;
- Incorporate activities that promote language and communication development;
- Supervise and guide children during mealtime, hand washing, toileting, rest periods, and play activities;
- Direct instructional assistants, volunteers and/or student workers to promote effective classroom management and addressing the needs of individual students;
- Conduct all responsibilities as required by Child Care Licensing Minimum standards, Head Start Performance Standards, ISD collaboration and CCA policy requirements;
- Participate in CCA & ISD staff development activities, in-service training and workshops to meet training requirements and to achieve mastery of core competencies;
- Ensure children’s work/play areas are maintained in a safe, sanitary and orderly condition;
- Other related duties as assigned.
