Summary:
The Culture of Safety Program Director will develop and oversee safety culture programming across Children's Health. This role is directed towards strengthening and continuously improving upon the system's safety culture to ensure a safe, healing environment for patients and team members. The incumbent promotes innovation in safety science and high reliability organizing, acts a resource in addressing safety culture issues, and leads the design/evolution of system level processes to support safety culture.

Responsibilities:
  • Assumes leadership for Culture of Safety programming to ensure high reliability and just culture principles are embedded in all patient safety-related education and processes within the system.
  • Provides guidance as requested to leaders of Children’s Health, serving as a Culture of Safety resource, for senior leadership and clinical leadership.
  • Develop, lead, and implement initiatives and programs designed to reduce patient harm and/or strengthen overall safety culture
  • Assists the Executive Leadership Team(s) to accomplish strategic goals including strengthening of safety culture.
  • Remains current and well-informed on developments in the patient safety, safety science, and high reliability fields.
  • Serves as a representative for Children’s Health by routinely attending and participating in the Solutions for Patient Safety (SPS) national meetings and workgroups, the Children’s Healthcare Association (CHA) Patient Safety Organization (PSO) meetings and annual conference, and the National Patient Safety Forum annual conference.
  • Provides guidance in the development, review, and revision of hospital policies involving safety culture and associated processes.
  • Supports relationship with other pediatric healthcare organizations and community, state, and national organizations as deemed appropriate by leadership.
  • Planning and execution of Culture of Patient safety Survey including the assessment of Survey Data to inform organizational strategies
  • Analyze safety culture data for emerging trends to make meaningful changes that result in continued strengthening the culture of safety at Children’s Health
  • Performs other duties as assigned
WORK EXPERIENCE

  • At least 7 years Related in Healthcare Experience Required
  • At least 5 years Multidisciplinary collaboration Required
  • At least 5 years Related experience in Patient Safety Required
  • At least 3 years Program development Required
  • At least 5 years Clinical experience Preferred
  • At least 3 years' Experience in a leadership role Preferred
EDUCATION
  • Four-year bachelor's degree or equivalent experience Required
  • Graduate or professional work or advanced degree; or equivalent experience Preferred
LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS
  • Current license to practice professional nursing in the State of Texas Preferred
  • Certified Professional In-Patient Safety 1 Year Required
