The Supervisor of Security role is responsible for leading a team of security team members during their assigned shift along with all job specific duties of the assigned security team member. This position is responsible for maintaining a positive working relationship with Children's Health System of Texas employees, various agencies and the public in order to carry out the proper communications and procedures in an effective and professional manner.
Responsibilities:
- Responsible for daily staffing and leading a team of security team members including offsite locations.
- Assist their assigned Security Manager with team training, daily duties and daily offsite location visits.
- Participate in the interview process for Security Team member candidates.
- Respond to priority calls and maintain supervision and command of scene unless relieved by other personnel.
- Enforce internal and external guidelines, enforcing the policies, rules, and regulations of the hospital; give directions and information throughout the hospital and assist with security problems.
- Write and reviews security team members reports on incidents occurring on campus property.
- Report all irregularities, emergencies, or suspicious activity to the appropriate party.
- Responsible for notification to security manager or security director as appropriate.
- Responsible for liaison with onside leaders in security manager absence.
- Assignments are subject to change at any time depending on the needs of the department.
- Perform other duties and special projects as assigned.
WORK EXPERIENCE
- At least 2 years At least 2 years preferred in a Supervisory related role or equivalent years of Supervisory duties (i.e. Customer service, healthcare, hospitality, security, law enforcement or military.) Pref
- High school diploma or equivalent Req
- Texas Commission on Law Enforcement New Supervisor (First-Time) Course #3737 within 60 days. Req
- Texas Department of Public Safety – Texas Private Security Bureau Registration - Commissioned Security Team member training and certification within 6 months of employment. Req
- Valid, current Texas Department of Public Safety Driver's License upon employment Req
- Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers as required by CP 1.20 Life Support Course Requirements 60 Days, Req
- International Association for Healthcare Security and Safety Supervisor level Certification for CHSS Certified Healthcare Security Supervisor. Effective 1/15/2020 employees must obtain this certification within 180 days of hire. Existing employees must obtain this certification by 7/15/2021. 180 Days Req
- Supervisor of a team; spends at least 50% of the time providing people leadership to a team
- Typical span of control: Administrative 12-15, Clinical 12-15, Support Services 15-17; e.g. Admin: Fin, IT, Legal, HR, Public Affairs; Support Services: EVS, Security, Engineering, Food Services;
- Plans and executes day to day operational needs
- Provides guidance, coaching, and feedback
- Provides input to employment decisions, and participates in performance reviews
- Works within established precedents and practices; receives guidance and oversight from a higher-level manager
- Monitors key day to day operational metrics
- Provides technical guidance to others on a frequent basis and rounds with employees in the team
- Demonstrates an understanding of Children's resource availability
