Job Description

The Director, Leadership Development will play a significant role in building the leadership capability needed to support Children’s rapid growth by designing and delivering programs and curriculum across all levels of leadership. This position will be responsible for identifying leadership development needs and designing programs that close current leadership gaps and develop future capability.

The Director, Leadership Development leads a team of professionals to deliver solutions aimed at improving leadership skills across the system. Solutions include, but are not limited to, leadership development strategy; in person, virtual, and online learning initiatives; leader assessments and coaching; career center development; talent review and performance management; team building and facilitation; and new leader onboarding/orientation.

Experience

  • 7-10 years progressive experience in learning, leadership, and talent development required
  • 5-7 years progressive experience leading and developing learning professionals
  • Deep expertise in developing leaders at all levels of the organization.
  • Proven experience in developing and managing learning programs with measurable results and operational impact
  • Proven experience in needs analysis and learning content design for business impact and follow through management
  • Proven experience facilitating workshops and motivating learners to develop
  • Proven experience leading organizational effectiveness through consultative support and ongoing assessment of organizational needs
  • Ability to scale content to meet the needs of the level of the learner
  • History of building and fostering positive relationships, both internally and externally; able to collaborate and partner with other subject matter experts and business leaders
  • Significant experience interacting with executives and facilitating executive-level meetings




Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Organizational Development, Business Administration, or related field



Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Proven ability to influence and gain support of senior leaders through clarity of message, command of subject matter, and effective delivery
  • Proven ability to influence, educate, and gain support of senior leaders for leadership development, the role leaders play in developing other leaders, and the activities needed to support effective leadership development
  • Highly effective in an ambiguous environment, and able to produce maximum results with little direction and guidance
  • Excellent project management skills including planning, logistics, program management, scheduling, and budget adherence
  • Self-motivated and directed, possessing an ability to motivate others
  • Ability to manage multiple complex assignments, with proven ability to assess competing priorities in a high energy, fast paced environment
  • Strong business acumen, client service, and results orientation
  • Practical in approach with a natural orientation for accomplishing things quickly in a high-quality way and maximizing results with the available budget
  • Advanced skills in Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and MS Project



Job Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute leadership learning and development offerings that ensure depth and breadth of ongoing development for Children's leadership.
  • Drive talent and succession planning to ensure internal leader readiness and execution of planned succession.
  • Ensure all supporting leadership development processes are aligned such as leadership assessments, competency models, and development planning and program measurement.
  • Oversee new employee (leader and staff) first-year experience including orientation and on-boarding.
  • Accountable for the design and execution of the Physician and Leadership EDGE programs, New Leader Onboarding (NLO), and Manager Essentials Program (MEP) to produce intended outcomes.
  • Manage resource and vendor management, measurement, and reporting.
  • Lead organizational effectiveness work as needed (team consulting, assessments, and engagement initiatives).
  • Provide coaching, performance improvement, and change management services as required.
  • Ensure learning and development is executed in the most efficient way while demonstrating the cost, benefit, and return on each program we offer.
  • Stay current and be a thought leader at Children's on leadership best practices.
  • Serve as a member of the Human Resource Leadership Team (HRLT) to set strategic priorities and ensure execution of operational imperatives.
  • Lead the implementation and evolution of the Career Center, providing self-service tools, coaching, and career navigation.
  • Create performance management and talent review processes and tools to support building organizational talent, and support HR Business Partners in execution.
