POSITION SUMMARY:
The Trauma Registry Specialist’s chief responsibility is to manage and maintain the hospital’s trauma data collection process and registry for the National Trauma Data Bank (NTDB) and the Trauma Quality Improvement Program (TQIP), the clinical outcomes databases for the Trauma Program. This is accomplished through identification of eligible Trauma patients for inclusion into the Trauma Registry Database in accordance with the American College of Surgeons (ACS) Pediatric Level II Trauma Verification requirements and high quality data compilation, documentation, entry, and report generation utilizing the trauma registry software. The specialist works closely with the Trauma Medical Director (TMD) and the Trauma Program Manager (TPM) as well as directors and staff members involved in the care of the Trauma patient including medicine, nursing, respiratory, and other ancillary services.

JOB SPECIFICATIONS:
Education:
Minimum Required: High School Diploma
Preferred: Completion of an AHIMA accredited RHIT or RHIA program.
Experience:
Minimum Required: 2 years of chart review and medical record abstraction
Preferred: Quality improvement and data entry management
License/Certification:
Minimum Required: None
Preferred: RHIT or RHIA
Special Skills/Training:
Minimum Required: MS Word, MS Excel
Preferred: MS Word, MS Excel, Trauma One Data Entry Trained
