Overview

The Informatics Nurse Applications Analyst serves as the technical and clinical Health Informatics subject matter expert for the clinical applications. The Nurse Applications Analyst supports the mission, vision, and strategic priorities of Children's Mercy and Information Technology. The Nurse Applications Analyst manages projects and programs in the nursing area they are assigned and assists with more complex projects. They maintain and provide technical support for assigned clinical applications. The analyst is a liaison to the nursing care delivery teams and develops, implements, and effectively uses clinical technologies to enhance patient care. They collaborate to positively impact patient safety and care quality.

Responsibilities

Application and Technology Management:

  • Configure and optimize applications and technology to meet the specific requirements of clinical workflows.
  • Collaborates with Information Technology to ensure that clinical and operational systems meet security requirements.
  • Maintains application documentation, back-up procedures, and business continuance.
  • Test systems and technology to identify defects and develop mitigation plan.
  • Follow change management processes
  • Follow change management and ITIL processes.
  • Apply regulatory requirements and professional standards to the design, build, and optimization of clinical technologies.
  • Implement clinical documentation and decision support systems that improve the quality of care and ensure patient safety.
  • Collaborates with vendors to resolve issues and identify opportunities for improvement.

Serves as a Health Informatics resource for clinical departments:

  • Designs and recommends innovative ideas, processes, and/or procedures for enhancements, additions, and modifications to improve existing systems.
  • Serves as technical subject matter expert for department and organizational committees and initiatives; participates in the development of technologies to support clinical processes.
  • Responds to system issues and user requests for assistance.
  • Provides 24/7 support as part of an on-call rotation.
  • Initiates Incident Management processes to resolve issues/services as soon as possible.
  • Collaborates to provide training and communication about changes and fulfill optimization requests.

Project and Program Management:

  • Manages IT projects and provides expertise to implement new clinical applications and technologies.
  • Applies project management skills, tools, and lean methodologies.
  • Assists the planning, execution, and delivery of complex programs.

Integrates nursing science, computer science, and information science to improve clinical systems for patient care safety, quality, efficacy, and efficiency:

  • Employ unique clinical and informatics knowledge, experience, and skills to support and enable best use of data, information, knowledge, and technology in their practice domain.
  • Supports clinicians through the synthesis of data and information into knowledge and wisdom by applying the use of information structures, information, processes, and information technologies.
  • Considers the impact of information technology and applied applications on patient safety, healthcare delivery, quality reporting and the nursing process.
  • Develops and applies new, innovative technologies to advance the inter-professional care of patients and families.
  • Supports department and organizational committees and professional initiatives; planning, coordinating, and implementing technologies to align patient care with evidence, standards, clinical data, and patient outcomes.
  • Act as clinical system usability experts and recommends ideal formats for the utilization of technology to support care delivery.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Nursing (BSN) required, plus 3-5 years' experience. Clinical, health informatics, Information Systems, or Information Technology experience required.
  • One of the following:
    • Licensed RN - MO, Registered Nurse Multistate License Missouri required upon hire
    • Licensed RN - Kansas, Registered Nurse Multistate License Kansas required upon hire
    • Licensed RN - Compact license for all states besides KS and MO
  • Knowledge of healthcare workflow and process is essential
  • Perioperative and/or Fetal Health Nursing experience is preferred
  • Cerner experience is preferred
  • PowerChart and Intraoperative documentation experience is beneficial
  • ANCC Board Certification - Informatics Nursing Preferred

Starting Pay

Our pay ranges are market competitive. The pay range for this job begins at $35.57/hr, but your salaried offer will be determined based on your education and experience.

 

Remote Work/Work from Home

This position is entirely remote or work-from-home. The person hired must live in the Kansas City metro area and may attend on-site meetings, as scheduled.
