Development Director

The Children’s Museum of Idaho was the first non-profit children’s museum in Idaho to engage children, families and the community in learning through creative play. The museum contains unique hands-on interactive exhibits and extensive programming to inspire creativity and imagination for children ages 1-9. The museum, located in Meridian, opened in December 2018 and has grown to serve nearly 125,000 visitors annually.

Development Director Job Responsibilities:

  • Design, implement and execute annual fundraising plan to meet fundraising goals
  • Provide leadership to anyone involved in fundraising for the organization
  • Prepare and present monthly reports on progress towards fundraising goals to Executive Director and Board of Directors
  • Secure sponsors for exhibits and special events
  • Manage portfolio of donors, funders and sponsors
  • Generate communications with donors, funders, sponsors and members
  • Manage grant writing and identification of new grant opportunities
  • Collaborate with Grant Administrator to assure terms of grants and reporting are met
  • Plan and execute special events

Work Hours: 40 hours per week, Monday – Friday.

Benefits: Paid time off earned after six months at 4 hours per bi-weekly pay period. At this time, the Children’s Museum of Idaho does not offer paid health insurance or a retirement program.

Development Director Qualifications/Skills:

  • Applied understanding of basic fundraising principles and development best practices
  • Strong prospect identification and qualification skills
  • Excellent writing, editing, and proofreading ability
  • Strong interpersonal, verbal communication, and presentation skills
  • Database and spreadsheet proficiency
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, Word, Publisher)
  • Experience with online fundraising, email marketing, and internet research

Experience Requirements:

  • Minimum three years of fundraising or non-profit experience
  • Previous management experience a plus
  • Proven track record of meeting fundraising goals and securing major gifts

Salary Range: $48,000-$52,000 annually depending upon experience.
