What are the responsibilities and job description for the Certified Spanish Medical Translator position at Children's National Medical Center?
Under supervision, provides language translation services to patients, their families and staff for an array of medical documents including, but not limited to, patient education materials, hospital forms, patient letters, medical consents, medical records, etc.

Functional Accountabilities
Promotes Appropriate Utilization of Translation Services by Staff
- Educates staff in the process of how to appropriately request translation services
- Maintains l communication at all times with internal and external customers regarding progress, deliverables, delays, etc
- Works closely with other departments providing recommendations
- Uses resources efficiently in order to maximize productivity and maintain costs low
- Collaborates with the Manager of Patient and Family Education to streamline process
- Translates requests in a timely fashion to meet requestor needs and datelines
- Maintains required logs/tracking system in order to track project progress and productivity
- Maintains translation statistics and performs analysis of program utilization and other metrics
- Coordinates distribution of assignment based on program needs
- Efficiently utilizes tools available to provide translations of the highest quality
- Manages own time to be productive
- Maintains archives and databases related to translation projects
- Identifies opportunities to improve clinical and administrative processes
- Identifies and resolves issues, overcoming challenges
- Makes appropriate decisions, using sound judgement
- Partners with all team members to achieve goals
