- Responsible for the assessment, coordination, implementation, and evaluation for the delivery of patient care on the assigned shift. Supervises and evaluates work performance in accordance with established criteria based standards of performance. Responsible for the coordination of clinical operations.
- Education
- Minimum of a bachelors degree in nursing required or must be achieved within 3 years of assuming role. Associates degree RN who are currently in the role may be grandfathered in.
- Experience
- Bachelors in nursing or related field with 2 years or more of clinical nursing experience preferred including 1 year of recent pediatric/psych/OR nursing experience preferred.
- Licensures, Certifications, and/or Registries
- Current RN license in the State of Alabama
- Current BLS certification

The Dearth Tower is made up of three 15-bed pediatric med/surg units that are located on 5 Dearth, 6 Dearth, and 7 Dearth in the McWane building of Childrens of Alabama. Most Dearth Tower patients are admitted to the Pediatric Hospital Medicine (PHM) physicians. Common diagnoses seen on the Dearth Tower are asthma exacerbation, bronchiolitis/RSV, pneumonia, cellulitis/abscess, neonate with fever, dehydration, gastroenteritis, s/p tonsillectomy/adenoidectomy, and bilateral myringotomy tubes.
