The Infection Prevention/Quality Assurance Nurse is responsible for the assessment of quality and infection prevention measures of the Inpatient Units including, but not limited to: heading the anti-microbial stewardship team, tracking employee and resident illness trends, leading inpatient quality assurance and performance improvement team, case review of adverse events, and other tasks based on department needs. This position requires knowledge of disease processes, expected healthcare outcomes, CMS and IDPH guidelines, and performance improvement strategies.

What You'll Do
Infection Preventionist- Lead inpatient Infection Control Program including Antibiotic Stewardship per CMS regulations.
- Collaborate with Care Team to identify and respond to illness and infection control trends.
- Collaborate with Nursing Educator to ensure accuracy of job aids and resources to identify areas of learning opportunities for Clinical staff.
- Stay current on all regulatory guidelines, i.e. IDPH, CMS, and CARF which direct Infection Prevention policies and processes and updates file review tools as appropriate.
- In collaboration with the Director of Nursing update Infection Prevention policies per protocol on an annual and as needed basis.
- Recognize situations that may negatively impact operational efficiency or safety and escalate as needed to appropriate responsible office/person in a timely manner when unable to resolve at team level.
Quality Assurance- Participate in routine utilization review of department standard operating processes.
- Collaborate with Inpatient Operations Manager and Clinical Manager(s) to ensure a high standard of care quality is delivered.
- Maintain a chain of command and a responsible work environment.
- Collaborate with the Administrator and Inpatient Operations Manager on the coordination of performance improvement projects.
- Exercise confidentiality regarding the affairs of clients, staff, families, and ChildServe business.
- Collaborate with internal departments to implement new processes or protocols as required by the corrective action plan to meet IDPH and regulatory standards.
- Assist in the development of reports and studies that will assist in the evaluation of ChildServe care activities and improve outcomes that impact ChildServe.
- Participate in regulatory audits, audit preparedness and process meetings as required.
- Collaborate, research, and develop process changes that may need to be implemented to improve the delivery processes as indicated in report and study outcomes.
- In collaboration with Inpatient Operations Manager and Clinical Manager(s) update standard operation processes per protocol on an annual basis.
What You'll Need
- Bachelors of Science in Nursing, Masters in Nursing preferred
- Possession of an active, unrestricted, and unencumbered Registered Nurse (RN) license issued by the state of Iowa
- 3 years as a nurse in an acute or sub-acute healthcare environment
- Experience in quality assurance and performance improvement activities
- 2 years of experience in a supervisory level capacity in a health care setting preferred
- Pediatric experience preferred
- Knowledge of IDPH, OSHA, CMS, and CARF preferred
- Demonstrated understanding and confidence in application of clinical nursing and infection control standards of care and practice
- Understand and enforce legal/regulatory requirements (e.g. HIPAA), policies and processes
- Current CPR/BLS certification
- Yellow Belt certification within 1 year of hire
- Ability to communicate effectively through reading, writing and speaking the English language
