`Job Title: Live-In Caregiver for Disabled Patient (Spinal Cord Injury)
Job Description:
This is a LIVE-IN position. Video interviews on this job is more likely to be called for an interview.
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated live-in caregiver to provide support and assistance to a disabled patient with a spinal cord injury. The caregiver will be responsible for attending to the patient's daily needs and ensuring their comfort and well-being at all times.
Responsibilities:
1. Assist the patient with activities of daily living, including but not limited to bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting.
2. Help the patient with mobility, transferring, and positioning, as they are currently in a wheelchair.
3. Follow a schedule provided by the healthcare team, including medication administration and therapy sessions, from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm.
4. Monitor the patient's vital signs and overall health condition, reporting any changes or concerns to the appropriate medical professionals.
5. Provide emotional support and companionship to the patient, engaging in conversation and recreational activities to promote social interaction and mental stimulation.
6. Prepare and serve nutritious meals and snacks according to the patient's dietary requirements and preferences.
7. Perform light housekeeping duties, such as cleaning and tidying the patient's living space, doing laundry, and maintaining a safe and hygienic environment.
8. Accompany the patient to medical appointments and assist with transportation as needed.
9. Follow proper infection control protocols and maintain a high standard of hygiene to prevent the spread of illness and infection.
10. Adhere to all care plans and instructions provided by the patient's healthcare team, ensuring continuity of care and adherence to treatment goals.
Qualifications:
1. Previous experience working as a caregiver or in a similar role, preferably with individuals with spinal cord injuries or mobility impairments.
2. Knowledge of activities of daily living and familiarity with assisting individuals with personal care tasks.
3. Ability to follow a schedule and prioritize tasks effectively, demonstrating reliability and punctuality.
4. Excellent communication skills and the ability to interact with the patient and their family members with empathy and professionalism.
5. Patience, compassion, and a genuine desire to make a positive impact on the lives of others.
6. Certification in CPR and first aid is preferred, but not required.
7. Must pass background checks and provide references upon request.
