Start Rate: $23.35/hour
Job Summary: Assist with providing language resources for Community Language classes, assist with translation of various documents from the Choctaw to English and from English to the Choctaw language and teach Choctaw language courses to employees, students and the public.
Primary Tasks:
Translate the Choctaw Language to English and translate English to Choctaw.
Substitute teach Choctaw Language Classes for employees, community classes, and public schools.
Plan and coordinate learning activities.
Proof, read, or create documents in the Choctaw Language as needed by the Choctaw Nation of Oklahoma.
Work with the staff at the School of Choctaw Language on a variety of language activities.
Learn to speak Choctaw fluently.
Other duties as may be assigned by the Director of the School of Choctaw Language.
Required Education, Skills and Experience:
MINIMUM
High School Diploma or GED.
Novice level speaker in the Choctaw Language.
The willingness to learn to teach Choctaw and to develop lesson plans.
Two (2) years of high school or community language class instruction.
TARGET
College Degree.
Fluent speaker with the experience to translate Choctaw to English or English to Choctaw.
Choctaw language teaching experience.
Five (5) years of teaching language classes in the community
