What are the responsibilities and job description for the Maintenance Worker, 10 hours per week position at Choice in Aging?
Under the supervision of the Mt. Diablo Center’s Program Director and the Bedford Center’s Program Director, the Maintenance Worker carries out a variety of maintenance and repair operations to maintain the facility, equipment, furniture, and grounds in a complete and timely manner. In addition, the Maintenance Worker works as a member of the Choice in Aging (CiA) team providing health and social services to frail elders and adults with disabilities to meet CiA’s mission to create opportunities where people can learn, grow and age independently with dignity and community.
Essential Duties:

1. In conjunction with the Program Director, the maintenance worker will analyze maintenance requests to determine if the project can be completed in-house or if a professional or licensed HVAC technician, electrician, plumber, roofer, etc., should be called.
2. If projects can be completed in house, the maintenance worker will plan and complete all maintenance work requests in a timely and efficient manner.
3. If projects need to be outsourced to a professional or licensed contractor, the maintenance worker will be responsible for ensuring all work is completed within the contracted agreement and in a timely and efficient manner.
4. Make general repairs including painting in a complete and timely manner.
5. Check emergency lights and replace bulbs as needed.
Minimum Qualifications
1. Experience working in a maintenance or repair person capacity. Must have automobile, valid California Driver’s License, clean DMV record, and insurance.
2. Lift at least 50 pounds and understand the mechanics of moving and lifting using leverage and assistive devices (dolly).
3. Climb a ladder.
4. Read and interpret instructions.
5. Operate small hand and electric tools.
