JOB TITLE:                           Recovery Support Specialist I

EMPLOYMENT TYPE:         Full-time, 40 hours/wk 

SCHEDULED HOURS:          Monday-Friday, 8:30am-4:30pm

ABOUT THE PROGRAM: The Hub Manchester

The Hub is a vibrant CHR program that helps individuals with many components of recovery including wellness, advocacy, community, recovery support, employment, and community resources. The Hub’s mission is to provide a safe space for people to gather, socialize and connect. The facility is equipped with space for group meetings and classes and offers a wide variety of options for participants. The environment encourages self-esteem building, leadership, and participation in activities that promote recovery

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Use Motivational Interviewing and interventions to assist clients in meeting their goals and moving along their paths to recovery, utilizing stage wise interventions.
  • Facilitates psycho-educational rehabilitation groups and individual coaching for individuals in recovery from psychiatric and substance abuse disorders.
  • Supports individual with linking and engaging with natural (family, friends) or community supports.
  • Facilitates (WRAP) for clients and work with other staff to respond to crisis situations as needed.
  • Provides skills teaching, such as assisting clients in obtaining/ maintaining housing and utilities; learning how to use transportation services, employment referrals, planning and preparing nutritional meals, linkage to medical services, advocacy or legal services, engage and communicate with family and friends, be safe in the community, care for children and other family members, and solve everyday problems that arise. 
  • Provides skill building interventions and support for self-management, self-advocacy, health and well-being, relapse prevention, and using community resources.
  •  Provides same service for family members and significant other if they are involved in primary client services.
  • Assists clients to identify and combat negative self-talk. Utilize personal lived experience in Recovery to model hope for clients.
  • Liaison with an individual’s treatment team as well as external providers.
  • Engages underserved population individuals with serious and persistent mental illness but not limited to, young adults age 18 to 26.
  • Teach substance use prevention and interventions to achieve positive outcomes.
  • Executes and completes all assigned tasks related to clubhouse operations.
  • Maintains documentation in compliance with agency and program standards.
  • Participates in all staff meetings to provide cross training to other team members in the principles of recovery, participate in supervision, trainings and other meetings as assigned.
  • Additional duties as required

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education: Valid Recovery Support Certification: High School Diploma required. Life experience.

Experience: RSS 2 years working with identified populations; self identifies as an individual with Mental Health and or Substance Use Disorder in long term Recovery.

Licensure/Certification/Registration: Recovery Support Specialist Certification from Advocacy Unlimited, Recovery Coach Certification from CCAR or an equivalent certification related to the field of Recovery Support required or must obtain within six months of hire. Valid Driver’s License required, Use of personal vehicle may be required for position.   

Training:  Basic computer skills required

COMPENSATION*:        

$16.71/hour min.-$25.06/hour max., dependent upon experience.

*Actual rates are determined at the time of offer and are based on relevant experience, as well as adherence to our internal equity policy. Many of our positions offer program/location differentials and/or sign-on incentives. (Please note, for part-time positions this range would be pro-rated based on hours worked)
