Position: McAuley Center Director

Christ the Teacher Catholic School, a nationally recognized school located in Newark,

Delaware, is searching for a highly-motivated, engaging, initiative-seeking McAuley Center

Director for the 2024-2025 school year.

Job Description:

As a McAuley Center Director at Christ the Teacher Catholic school serving K-8 students, you

will lead the development, implementation, and oversight of programs and services

designed to support students with diverse learning needs. In collaboration with school

leadership, faculty, and parents, you will create a nurturing and inclusive learning

environment where every student can thrive academically, socially, and spiritually. This role

requires a dynamic and visionary leader who is committed to advancing the mission of

Catholic education and ensuring the success of all learners within our faith-based

community.

Responsibilities:

● Develop and implement a comprehensive vision and strategic plan for the Learning

Center that aligns with the mission, values, and goals of the school and the Catholic

Church.

● Collaborate with school leadership, faculty, and staff to identify students who may

benefit from additional support and intervention and coordinate appropriate services

and resources.

● Lead a team of learning support teachers, interventionists, and support staff,

providing guidance, supervision, and professional development opportunities to

enhance their effectiveness.

● Oversee the assessment, identification, and evaluation of students with diverse

learning needs, ensuring compliance with state and diocesan regulations and

guidelines.

● Develop and implement accommodation and intervention strategies to address

students' academic, social-emotional, and behavioral needs.

● Provide direct support and intervention to students as needed, including small group

instruction, one-on-one tutoring, and targeted skill development activities.

● Collaborate with classroom teachers to differentiate instruction and adapt curriculum

materials to meet the diverse learning styles and abilities of students.

● Foster positive relationships with parents/guardians, serving as a resource and

advocate for students and families and providing ongoing communication and

support.

● Coordinate and facilitate professional development opportunities for faculty and staff

related to best practices in special education, differentiated instruction, and inclusive

education.

● Serve as a liaison between the school, community agencies, and outside service

providers to ensure comprehensive support and resources for students and families.

● Uphold the mission, vision, and values of the Catholic Church and the school

community, modeling Catholic values and fostering a sense of community and

belonging among students and staff.

Requirements:

● Master's degree in Special Education, Educational Leadership, or a related field

● Valid teaching certification/license in Special Education (DE or MD).

● Minimum of five years of teaching experience, preferably in special education

● Strong knowledge of special education law, regulations, and best practices in

assessment, intervention, and support services.

● Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to

build and maintain positive relationships with students, parents, faculty, and staff.

● Visionary mindset with a commitment to advancing the mission of Catholic education

and ensuring the success of all learners within a faith-based community.

● Ability to collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders and coordinate resources to

meet the needs of students with diverse learning needs.

● Understanding of Catholic teachings, values, and traditions, with a commitment to

integrating faith into educational programs and services.

● Flexibility, creativity, and a willingness to adapt to the evolving needs of the school

and the broader educational landscape.

Pay: $45,052.00 - $55,000.00 per year
