JOB DESCRIPTION
Summary/Objective
The Director of Business is responsible for providing strategic leadership in developing Human Resources guidance, practices, tools, and solutions to implement CHA’s mission, vision, and strategic initiatives and enabling leadership to develop a robust, high-performance culture. This position will also oversee the function and effectiveness of all offices, maintain all school insurance, school business policies and procedures, and oversee the functions of the Business Assistant, main receptionist, cafeteria and school store coordinator. This position must agree with and support the Faculty/Board Member's Covenant and agree with/help fulfill CHA's Mission Statement.

Human Resources:
Develop organization strategies by anticipating, identifying, clarifying, and researching the organization’s HR needs, issues, and priorities
Participate in leadership meetings and work closely with leaders to maintain awareness of and support initiatives, goals, and needs throughout the organization
Implement HR strategies and best practices by establishing department accountabilities and processes, and leading staff and functions, including talent acquisition and diversity, onboarding, performance management, employee development tracking and accountability, engagement and retention, employee relations, compensation and benefits, HR reporting and systems, workplace safety, legal compliance, and other HR functions
Provide counsel, guidance, and coaching to senior leaders, supervisors, and employees to ensure individual and team effectiveness; advise, investigate, and resolve employee relations issues and complaints
Maintain up-to-date knowledge in the areas of employment law, training, and compliance with federal, state, and local regulations and legal requirements and protect the interests of CHA
Guide leader and employee actions by researching, developing, and updating HR policies and procedures for the organization
Design and implement recruitment and talent acquisition strategies in building talent pipelines for current and future job openings, sourcing tools and techniques, and leveraging social media
Manage compensation plan and pay structure, benefit plans, and relationships with consultants and vendors to provide competitive and equitable compensation, creatively manage benefit costs and mitigate financial risks
Facilitate training for leaders, supervisors, and employees on HR-related topics
Assist the Headmaster in ensuring a positive workplace environment that supports staff engagement, a sustainable and healthy work/life integration, and optimum productivity and performance
Oversee duties of the Receptionist
Oversee the Kitchen Supervisor and staff
Oversee duties of the Business Assistant
Oversee the School Store Coordinator
Approve/Disapprove time off and secure work schedules for support staff
Supervise and evaluate Support Staff that reports to the Director of Business
Review and help write job descriptions for all staff positions
Hire and terminate all office and kitchen staff and assist the appropriate supervisors in employee evaluations and conferences
Maintain digital personnel records for all employees in HRIS
Financial:
Oversee Day school and General budget
Maintain salaries in current Human Resource Information Systemand conduct monthly payroll
Maintain confidentiality of all transactions and information relating to finances
Assist Financial Controller complete annual audits requested from Insurance companies and 401K audit
Facilities/Assets & Insurance:
Secure pricing and/or bids on major items and/or projects when requested
Update and maintain all business procedures of the school
Review and secure all insurance for the building and its contents
Process/report all insurance claims
Secure vehicle insurance, process and report any claims
Safety/Health:
Work with government officials to satisfy safety and health requirements
Work with School Nurse to maintain emergency procedures and certifications for the facility and those working or attending the academy
Operations:
Communicate regularly with support staff to ensure procedures and tasks are functioning effectively and efficiently
Provide continuing education classes for support staff, including computer programs and office procedures
Maintain, purchase, and/or implement contracts for office equipment, including vending machines school-wide
Review school handbooks such as the Faculty Handbook, Parent Handbook, and Policy and Procedure Manual
Maintain a business-like atmosphere in all three offices
General
Attends staff meetings, committee meetings, and all other meetings that are required
Attends Professional Development training and devotions throughout the year

Work Environment
This job operates in a professional school environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, and fax machines.
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time, 11-month salary position, payable on a 12-month pay schedule. Days and hours are M - F from 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. during the school calendar year. An additional 20 days will be required during the summer months.
Performance Standards
Tasks are to be completed well and in a timely manner (before or at due date), while representing Christian Heritage Academy in a way that is glorifying Christ.
Travel
Minimal Travel is required for training and conferences.
Physical Demands
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to perform the essential functions of this job successfully
The school is currently a multi-level facility, which requires this position to navigate flights of stairs regularly to meet responsibilities as it relates to the school
Talking - must be able to express ideas and speak clearly and orally in person or over the phone to parents, students and/or other employees
Hearing ability to perceive sounds at normal speaking levels with or without correction and to receive detailed information through oral communication
Close visual acuity required for viewing a computer monitor, preparing and analyzing data and figures, transcribing and reading
Standing, walking and sitting for extended periods of time, moving about on foot for lecturing and monitoring students in the classroom, as well as throughout the building
Regularly sitting at the computer requiring dexterity of hands and fingers
Occasional lifting of at least 25 pounds
Environment is primarily indoors in a classroom environment
Required Education
Bachelor's degree
Preferred Education
Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Business or Human Resources
Additional Eligibility Qualifications
HR Certification recommended
