Responsibilities:
- Supervise and mentor team members.
- Primary liaison between company and client. Must fully understand a client's needs and expectations for their project. Exercise good client management by providing sound technical expertise, consulting and educating the client through the whole development process, keeping the client informed about all activity, timelines, changes required, etc. in a timely manner, and ultimately maintaining overall client satisfaction and continued client trust.
- Conduct Project Initiation Meetings (PIM's), make initial and periodic site visits as needed to verify topography and/or other field conditions that may affect the work involved, and attend pre-construction meetings.
- Coordinate and manage all disciplines required on the project, including in-house survey, planning and/or environmental staff, as well as external sub-consultants such as Traffic, Geotechnical, etc. as needed.
- Ensure QA/QC of plans and reports throughout all stages of the project, and compliance with company and jurisdictional standards and minimum requirement checklists.
- Responsible for processing contract paperwork with the client and with any sub-consultant, including negotiation of terms when needed, getting insurance or other paperwork in place (via coordination with Corporate), and assuring appropriate signatures are obtained in a timely manner.
- Responsible for managing the project to assure the financial success of the project. This involves having a full understanding of the project scope, budgets and schedule and assuring his/her team works efficiency to meet the budget goals set for the project and that all deadlines are met.
- Write proposals and work orders.
- Seek new business avenues while maintaining existing client relationships.
- Be active in the engineering, planning and/or environmental community; attend organizational meetings and serve on committees.
Qualifications:
- 8 years of civil engineering design and/or construction management experience
- Technical proficiency in all aspects of civil engineering including: Roadways and streets, Grading, SWM/BMP, Erosion and sediment control, Storm sewers, Sanitation, Water design
- Knowledge of industry standards and requirements
- Proficiency with: AutoCad, Civil 3d, Hec Ras, Hydrawflow, MS Office Suite (Excel, Word, and Outlook)
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
Education and Certifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering required
- PE in Virginia, Maryland, or DC required
