Job Description
BASIC POSITION FUNCTION:
Responsible for technical/production support, process/product development and optimization of aerospace and aeroderivative gas turbine systems for assigned areas and its applicability to OEM businesses. Leading highly complex projects producing new designs and processes; utilizing lean tools and methodologies to positively impact the business metrics.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES/TASKS:
- Candidate must be a self-starter, able to work in a dynamic team environment.
- Owns all technical aspects of assigned components and associated processes.
- Utilizes project management skills to lead assigned projects/programs to successful completion.
- Collaborates effectively in an integrated team environment to develop robust manufacturing processes that meet site, corporate and customer requirements for schedule, cost, performance.
- Publishes technical reports, specifications, procedures, and work instructions.
- Regularly engages with OEM customers on product technical requirements, non-conformance reviews, improvement opportunities. Prepares and delivers presentations to the said customers.
- Develops KPIs to effectively manage process and product outcomes.
- Identifies process/tooling/equipment improvement opportunities, drives development and implementation of such improvements adhering to lean manufacturing principles.
· Coordinates prototype submissions with relevant personnel for approval.
· Designs engineering experiments.
· Functions as a technical mentor to less experienced team members.
SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE/PROFICIENCIES:
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings and specifications is required.
- Strong technical and effective communication in English, both written and verbal, are essential for success in this role.
- Knowledge of FAA guidelines for PMA requirements and compliance testing is highly desirable.
- Familiarity with NADCAP or similar industrial quality certifications is a big plus.
- Working knowledge of six sigma methodologies is desirable.
- Proficiency in statistical analysis software in Minitab or similar is preferred.
- Project management skills
- Knowledge of gas turbine manufacturing processes such as thermal spray, EBPVD, diffusion coatings, precious metal plating, heat treatment, chemical cleaning and stripping is desirable but not required
- Experience with continuous improvement, lean manufacturing, design thinking methodologies is a plus.

Qualifications
EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE:
· Degree in Aerospace, Mechanical, Materials or Chemical Engineering preferred. Other disciplines from an accredited university or college also considered.
· 7 years or more working experience in a manufacturing environment
· Experience in the aviation industry is preferred.
· Experience with superalloys is beneficial.
