What are the responsibilities and job description for the Buyer position at CHT USA?
POSITION OVERVIEW:
The buyer role is responsible for procurement & replenishment of raw materials and packaging for CHT USA locations in Richmond, VA and Cassopolis, MI. Travel may be required.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Issue RFPs & RFQs as necessary for procurement of raw materials and packaging.
- Manage ERP system inputs including product master, vendor record and MRP settings.
- Negotiate, implement, and manage contracts to ensure optimum cost and reliable supply.
- Identify opportunities for cost savings, better efficiency, and other areas of improvement; recommend and implement policy or process changes as appropriate
- Issue, update, and maintain purchase orders based on MRP system requirements.
- Utilize MRP to manage replenishment of raw materials to maintain optimal stocking levels to support production and maximize inventory turns.
- Review MRP daily and resolve any exceptions. Update the ERP system with real-time data to allow planning/scheduling and manufacturing visibility into interruptions in material availability.
- Act as the procurement representative in dealing with key internal stakeholders and external suppliers in order to support S&OP process.
- Establish & maintain processes for reordering and maintaining appropriate stock levels of product packaging (drums, totes, and pails).
- Collect, analyze, and summarize supply management performance metrics against objectives including quality, cost, on-time delivery, and lead-time. Communicate results and work with suppliers to support internal customers and drive continuous improvement.
- Maintain vendor metric performance including, but not limited to, vendor score cards, on-time delivery and pricing.
- Assist with inventory management and cycle counting.
- Work cross functionally to resolve accounts payables, inventory, production, and supplier return issues as they arise.
- Other duties, as assigned.
EDUCATION, TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
Education & Experience
o Associate degree from an accredited college or university (preferred)
o 2 years of similar purchasing, supply chain, inventory related experience (preferred)
o ERP & MRP experience (preferred)
Knowledge & Skills:
o Capable of working independently to manage day-to-day tasks
o Critical thinking and excellent negotiating skills.
o Strong market knowledge and experience in working across various functions, businesses and regions within chemical manufacturing industry.
o Advanced user type understanding of the Microsoft Office 365 & Suites: Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook
o Familiarity with an ERP solution (i.e. SAP, Sage, Microsoft Dynamics ERP, etc.)
o Creativity in approaching complex challenges and problems

o Strong interpersonal and leadership skills; written and oral communication

WORK ENVIRONMENT
