Summary and Scope

The AVP Enterprise Solutions Architect will work with the Architecture & Advanced Engineering Team, PRS IT Team and Business Partners to lead the solution architecture design and delivery of strategic business projects for Chubb Personal Risk Services.


Responsibilities

  • Key contributor to defining the architectural strategy and driving the execution for modernizing the Chubb Personal Risk Services (PRS) system portfolio. 
  • Develop flexible, adaptable, modular, and reusable business solution architecture designs for very large and complex projects in collaboration with business stakeholders and the IT development team that align with Chubb Enterprise Architecture standards.
  • Work with project managers and engineers to ensure alignment of program deliverables to defined solution.
  • Review high-level designs with the technical lead and developers, review code, enforce best practices, debug critical issues, and conduct performance testing to deliver efficient and performant applications.
  • Responsible for identifying technology risk and corresponding mitigation strategies.
  • Implement appropriate solution architecture governance processes and tools while maintaining a key focus on design patterns and technology standards.
  • Act as an enabler of Agile and DevOps practices in collaboration with product delivery and operation support teams.
  • Explore, evaluate, and promote technology innovation within the enterprise.
  • Evaluate, learn and assist teams with open-source technology solutions.

Qualifications

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Bachelor's Degree, Computer Science or Engineering degrees preferred.
  • Expected to be a key contributor to architecture modernization roadmaps and strategy.
  • 15 years of experience in policy administration system implementation and integration with other core insurance systems.
  • Ability to abstract-up to harvest patterns and articulate design decisions with senior audience (CIO level).
  • Hands on architect who is comfortable working with engineers at code/detailed design level.
  • Coding experiences and skills preferred in C#, Java, Python, Kafka, MQ, JavaScript, Angular, Node.js, and Azure. Familiar with Mainframe systems and various integration patterns.
  • Ability to guide and mentor development teams on sound design and coding principles, best practices in API based, Micro Services and Cloud environments.
  • Ability to work with development teams closely together to review code, debug issues, and conduct performance testing to build efficient and performant applications.
  • Experience in application modularization and modernization including adoption of Micro Service Architecture models.
  • Knowledge and experience of insurance underwriting platform architectures is a plus.
  • Experience in Information Security and Risk Management.
  • Experience in cloud solution design and implementation of IaaS, PaaS and SaaS and hybrid models.  Azure certification is desirable.
