The Director of Accounting is responsible for all accounting related activities. This includes month end close, complete reconciliation of balance sheet accounts, payment of invoices on time, detailed tracking of inventory, cash management for all stores and ecommerce.

Essential Job Functions

The incumbent must be able to perform all the following duties and responsibilities with or without a reasonable accommodation.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the general ledger, monthly closing process and preparation of monthly financial statements in accordance with GAAP
  • Implement effective internal controls within the organization and ensure compliance with the control guidelines
  • Make suggestions regarding process improvements and assist with the implementation of new systems
  • Guide, coach, and develop accounting team members to support growth of accounting department
  • Ensure timely payment for invoices
  • Track inventory across both warehouses and store locations
  • Coordinate with others in the organization to ensure consistent understanding of accounting policies and compliance across the global organization

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance or other related business major required
  • Minimum of 7 years of relevant, progressive experience in accounting
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (E.g., Excel, Word)
  • CPA preferred
  • Retail experience preferred

Physical Demands

Most tasks are performed while seated indoors at a computer. Must be able to work around pet hair and dander.

Nature of Supervision

This position will manage a team of 8 across the general ledger, accounts payable, and receiving & returns teams.

Work Environment

Operates in a standard office environment. The majority of job duties are performed while seated indoors with little or no exposure to hazards.
