Job Overview
The role of the SME III (Rescue 21 Network Engineer) in the US Coast Guard Implementation and Sustainment support team is to provide day-to-day program support to NIWC. The position requires an experienced network expert to support the project. This position will work out of the Chesapeake, VA area.
Responsibilities
Essential Duties & Job Functions:
- Provide direct support to the IT Services team lead including the government sponsor and his/her managers on a daily basis.
- Assist with the design and configuration of network infrastructures.
- Maintain and upgrade existing network systems.
- Assist and advise with stakeholders on system design and upgrades, administration, network performance monitoring, network architecture, virtualization, and hardware management as needed or required.
- Provide expert input on Rescue 21 network development.
- Provides assistance during onsite visits to US Coast Guard commands.
- Other duties as assigned.
Job Requirements
Mandatory:
- Must have a SECRET security clearance as a minimum at the time of employment.
- Twelve (12) years of experience in Navy and or Coast Guard C4ISR systems, to include: Technology Analysis and Assessment, Design, Definition, Development of Systems Specifications, Systems Analysis, Systems Architecture, Systems/Equipment Integration, Test & Evaluation Criteria, and Logistics support of C4ISR requirements. Recognized as an expert in naval networking or C4ISR systems. Note: Experience may be concurrent.
- Outstanding oral and written communication skills.
- Be willing to travel up to 10%.
