Overview
The Policy Writer is responsible for producing effective written communication on policies, procedures, and internal controls. This role works with our subject matter experts (SMEs) and other internal stakeholders to analyze, recommend, author, and deliver high-quality documentation such as procedures, which includes procedure manuals.
Responsibilities
- Researches, outlines, writes, and edits new and existing content, working closely with various departments to understand requirements.
- Independently gathers information from SMEs to help develop, organize, and write policies, internal control, and procedure manuals documentation.
- Coordinates the governance, administration, monitoring, and reporting of new or modified policy requirements.
- Coordinates impact assessments of new or changing policy requirements.
- Assists with creating and maintaining templates for written policy documentation to ensure documentation is standardized.
- Assists in maintaining published documentation in the approved manner in the centralized document storage.
- Reviews and edits previously written policies, procedures, and controls for consistency and ensures they confirm to established styles.
- Researches, creates, and maintains industry best practice content for use in quality process documentation.

- Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- High School diploma or GED certificate.
- Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Journalism, English, or relevant technical field or equivalent work experience.
- Industry experience as an effective policy writer required.
- Previous experience writing documentation and procedural materials for multiple audiences.
- Advanced computer proficiency utilizing Microsoft applications, e-mail and Internet.
- Must apply for, receive, and maintain a Gaming License from the Tribal Gaming Agency.
- Native American hiring preference applies.
- Written Communication: Expressing ideas and opinions clearly in properly structured, well organized, and grammatically correct reports or documents; utilizing language and terminology that is understandable for the reader.
