Job Responsibilities
- Read specifications and blueprints to determine the locations, quantities, and sizes of materials required
- Verify alignment and plumbing of steel structures and make corrections to erected structures as needed
- Connect columns, beams, and girders with bolts following blueprints using various bolts, nuts, washers and, torquing.
- Accept responsibility for team safety, leading the team to zero injuries
- Be proactive in identifying hazards and managing risks while ensuring proper use of PPE and personal responsibility for safety.
- Understand and work in accordance with the overall project schedule and budget
- Work together with project supervision on a daily basis to communicate production goals and quality specifications of work, discuss issues that have surfaced (around people, means and methods, material or equipment use, etc. extra or out of scope work), and ideas to help the team achieve project goals
Qualifications/ Requirements
- Must have a minimum of 4 - 6 years of Journey level experience
- Ability to work at all heights
- Ability to read blueprints, interpret symbols and abbreviations on plans and drawings
- Prior rigging experience to include knowledge of hand signals, rigging gear, inspection, and proper use
- NCCER certification
- Licensing or additional certification may be required depending on project location
- Extensive knowledge of heavy industrial construction, specifically mechanical, electrical, and pipe
- 3 plus years of supervisory experience in a heavy industrial construction environment
- Must have good organizational abilities and possess strong oral and written communication skills
