To learn more about CIBC, please visit CIBC.com Job Description The Business Controls Consultant will contribute to Retail & Digital Banking goals and you will provide support to the business in consulting on effective management of material, systemic and emerging operational, strategic and business risks. A key aspect of the role is to execute all key control testing activities for Community Banking while effectively managing the risk profile of the business and at the same time keeping the client experience top-of-mind. What you'll be doing Responsive and accessible to the business throughout the day; be proactive in response to information requests and promptly resolve any day-to-day service or business related issues; Build and maintain working relationships with stakeholders across the different functions our team supports (e.g., Client Service, Retail Banking, Client Service Center, Services etc.) including up to Senior Management levels; Provide input and support for testing and monitoring activities, respond in a timely manner to testing requests and questions, and work with various risk partners to log gaps and develop remediation plans Complete all project deliverables timely and with the highest quality; Provide input and materials and submissions as needed for Governance and Controls teams, Internal Audit, Independent Risk Management and EAML teams, and Regulators. Ensure adherence with applicable policies, procedures, standards and guidelines. Develop and implement business specific processes and procedures as applicable. Ensure policies and procedures remain up to date. Complaint management – track, research and reply to client complaints per complaint standards. Understand CIBC’s Control and Deficiency Management Policy, identify and escalate known issues, understand the difference between a deficiency and risk item, coordinate and implement action plan items and adjust processes and controls to help prevent future occurrences Identify emerging issues and trends to inform decision-making. Participate in implementation or change initiative projects related to digital and retail business requirements. Motivated, works independently, and comfortable managing non-routine situations. Cross Functional Relationships Partner with cross-functional groups (i.e., Operations, Technology, Finance, Human Resources, Compliance, Legal, and Internal Audit) to resolve issues, improve efficiencies, promote business objectives, and execute positive results; help identify and escalate issues/risks/dependencies and facilitate communication across team Knowledge and Skills Highly motivated, self-starter; able to work in a fast paced, results driven environment; Strong interpersonal, written, verbal and presentation skills; Demonstrated Client Service skills and experience Ability to articulate complex issues concisely and communicate effective and comfortably with senior people; excellent relationship building and stakeholder management skills; Ability to execute tasks under aggressive targets and effectively manage to changes in plan; Strong knowledge of Microsoft applications (i.e., Microsoft Office, including PowerPoint, Excel, Visio); Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously – strong time management skills Positive mindset and excitement to join a growing team How you'll succeed Relationship building - Collaborate with Operations Risk, Compliance, Business Heads and Legal to facilitate solutions.
