What are the responsibilities and job description for the Accounting Assistant position at Cigna?
The Accounting Assistant role be will supporting Cigna Life Insurance Company of Canada and all of its affiliates in Canada.
Accounting Duties:
Assist with accounts payable and accounts payable
Assist in updating worksheet and spreadsheets
Assist with maintenance of accounts payable invoice log
Assist in creating accounts payable requisitions
Assist in creating and updating financial reports (eg. balance sheets, income statements and cash flow statements)
Assist in financial accounts reconciliations
File all signed disbursements and receipts after month end
Process bank deposits
Administrative Duties:
Answer door & welcome guests as needed
Pick up and drop off mail
Open, stamp and distribute mail
Copy and Log cheques received
Claim file maintenance
Maintain storage of monthly G/L Journal Vouchers in binders and filing cabinets
Scan documents, not limited to: Government correspondences & Regulatory filings
Set up couriers
Office maintenance including:
Order office supplies
Kitchen maintenance
Report and coordinate with property manager for any office deficiencies
Assist with shredding and manage offsite storage
All other duties as assigned
Qualifications, Knowledge and Skills:
Undergraduate university degree in Commerce, Business or Accounting or equivalent work experience preferred
Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Windows and Microsoft Office software (Excel, Word and PowerPoint)
Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills and ability to communicate at all levels.
Ability to multi-task and handle multiple priorities
Accuracy, attention to detail, adaptability, and ability to maintain confidentiality in respect of information handled is required
