The Business Analytics Lead Analyst position is an opportunity for an analytics professional to provide support on complex analytics projects and initiatives. This role will work with an innovative team on setting and executing the vision for how advanced embedded analytics can lead Cigna to achieving our growth goals.
Reporting to the Business Analytics Senior Advisor, this role will work collaboratively with our business stakeholders to provide partnership in analytics, developing analytics solutions, leveraging data science and technologic capabilities and embedding analytics driven processes.
The Business Analytics Lead Analyst is responsible for the support of work in Value Based Contract Enablement and Measurement, Market and Provider Assessment and Performance, Cost/Utilization/Membership Trends.
Key Accountabilities
- Build subject-matter expertise in the array of available data; understand opportunities and limitations of various data sets
- Manipulate and combine a variety of data sources using SQL into the foundation of reports
- Uncover trend drivers and stories in the data that will lead to deeper research and/or decisions and actions
- Assist with complex data research and analyses to support business operations including: creating data architectures/models/protocols, actionable reporting, and methodologies to identify trends in large data sets.
- Perform ad hoc analytic processes. Ensure code is appropriately documented and can be understood by other analysts.
- Effectively document new developments and build/maintain ongoing tests of data integrity and accuracy.
- Exhibit understanding of data and leverage data in an appropriate way (correct sources, clear assumptions, approved by leader and business stakeholders)
- Maintain analytics skillset through understanding new technologies, modeling techniques, and the ability to execute and apply to our work
- Develop analytic solutions that meet the basic needs of the business
- Ensure analytic approach and results are clearly understood by business partners.
- Work toward further development of SQL/Tableau skills and business acumen
Qualifications & Experience Required:
- Bachelors degree required in preferred fields of Statistics, Biostatistics, Econometrics, Economics, Actuarial Science, or Data Science or equivalent work experience
- Minimum 3 years’ industry experience solving business problems through the application of analytic approaches
- Required experience in SQL, Tableau, SAS EG, TOAD, SQL Server, Teradata
- Use relevant technology/software to wrangle data, perform analytics, and visualize for consumption
- Ability to translate business needs into practical applications and solutions
- Absolute requirement to work well with team and others remotely through effective communication, time management and transparency of work.
- High levels of initiative and self-management skills
- Experience in health care industry and knowledge of health care data, metrics, and business concepts strongly preferred.
- Experience and drive in relentless problem-solving
